Klei please consider.

given the fact that I found those animations in the game files (in a work in progress state and finished them), I suspect that Klei has already considered and thrown out the idea in favour of conveyor rails

Hear me out.  Both.

Each would still work and have great uses. Best used together.

Removes the cleanup steps of mid game that really needs it. Imo.

And if you need to move 100T's it's very time consuming for little payoff.

Also a fun bonus is adds several interesting uses for the mechanic all its own.

Faster dupes in hallways.

Critter movement.

I'm sure some interesting contraptions could easily be built.

The blocks animation is a bit much but it saved me hours of the mid game slog of moving material and designing the layout.

Made strip mining a fun experience.

Can you make it move materials vertical though???

theoretically

Something like.... Anytime the left and/or right side have no touching tiles it would change to include some type of lift/bucket mechanism going up.  Guess it would need to include a way to pull items over the 90° angle.

And placing adjacent tiles deactivates the entity movement and art/animation on that side.

I don't think it should work on dupes but maybe critters?

Hmm, I fear the performance impact and I don't see the benefit over the current sweeper + automatic dispenser chain.

Saved about 4-6 hours of cleanup per planet. I have easily over 300 hours in game of !not playing! and just letting the game run to clean up all material from mining.

Creates a mechanical system for designing your own unique builds.

It also improves dupe travel times horizontally if set properly.

I did get a bit of lag a few times moving basically half the maps material.  And dropping dozens of small pieces on it continuously when running everything, but I'm playing on an potatoe so....

It's not bad, when you use it you really use it. Then scrap it. Or.

Currently only one running is the long map length hallway. Finally, no more travel time warning.

It's connected to automation so it's only on for a few moments but makes a massive difference in travel times getting started,  and keeping dupes on schedule.

5/5 would recommend this feature for QOL.
