You could say "just use a mod for it" in response to any suggestion, that doesn't seem like a satisfactory answer. And again, can't just add mods onto everywhere I play.

These are just suggestions. Klei won't add this because they don't want to make life difficult for beginners and non-speedrunners.

How does that make it harder for them if you need to summon the boss manually?

Well. These are questions for Klei. They want the rocket to work only on Deerclops... For some reasons... (They didn't even think about it and forgot about this mechanic after its introduction. )

I've always felt like Klei holds back some obvious things to fuel the sense of progression when they add them, so this seems like one of those obvious changes that must be planned but haven't been released yet.
