heneybliss
Greetings ! I have accumulated 1600 hours in ONI before the prehistoric pack. I started a new colony with the prehistoric pack, and every time i encounter this problem with pressure damage on my salt water tank to store the salt water from the provided default geyser on the starting asteroid. The tank breaks, every time. It doesn't matter which material I use, if I use insulated or regular tiles or a layer of each. I have never encountered this problem before, ever. I have never had a tank break from pressure damage, regardless of size, depth and materials. Only since the new pack, and it has happened on at least the 5 last colonies I started and then gave up on when the water goes everywhere. I thought i might have done something wrong, but...what ? Did I miss some changes to water physics ? And if so, how do I avoid my tank breaking from pressure damage ? Double walls don't work, it's safe to assume triple walls won't work either ? Smaller tank size ? I breaks randomly on the sides or the bottom, so i''m not sure size is even an issue. I'm at a loss here and have basically stopped playing since I know at some point I will hit this (very wet) wall. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated Thank you ! Tigin
Do you have a screenshot? You're probably doing something differently for your Relica playthroughs that you weren't doing before Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823418 Share on other sites
SGT_Imalas
airflow tiles are immune to pressure damage 3 or more thick walls are also immune to pressure damage Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823420 Share on other sites
Gurgel
Is this an open tank? If so there might be a new bug. Screenshot please! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823424 Share on other sites
heneybliss
Hi all and thank you for the answers, here are some screenshots of the latest colony. It is an open tank indeed. And good opint about airflow tiles being immune to pressure damage, i don't usually use them in tanks because i don't like the look of the liquids with them, but that might actually be a great idea at this point so I can progress Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823446 Share on other sites
heneybliss
I just tried building the inner layer with airflow tiles, and they probably changed something as the water now doesn't seem to "float" over the tiles, if you know what i mean. So at this point, i'll just do that and be happy with the result ! Still curious as why it's happening, but a fix is a fix Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823449 Share on other sites
SGT_Imalas
it looks like that upper layer of water turned the tank into an unintended infinite storage 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823471 Share on other sites
Gurgel
You have two different liquids in the right, lower corner and that can lead to localized massive overpressure via ONI liquid dynamics. This effect is very old. Here is a reference that explains the effect. This essentially also works a liquid and a gas or two liquids. Note the use of doors, which are impervious to pressure. Curry MAMA
Do not put multiple liquids with different specific gravities in one pool. In particular, putting a heavy liquid into a lighter liquid often causes accidents. If you put Brine in a pool of Saltwater, it will not be able to push the surrounding Saltwater aside, and will gather at the bottom, increasing the pressure endlessly. You should prepare a separate pool just for Brine. The only exception is pouring a thin layer of water on top of a pool of Polluted Water. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823483 Share on other sites
heneybliss
Well, i just realized i had brine in the tank. Even with the liquid screenshot it wasn't obvious on my screen as I have some pretty heavy colour correction and I simply assumed it was all saltwater. Very interesting, i'm surprised that it never happened before in hundreds of hours, but that is why I adore this game, there is always something new to learn. Also the mention of infinite storing with the water layer is very intriguing, i clearly did not do that on purpose, but if that's the case, well that's a bonus then :). Thank you all for your help, the airflow tiles fixed it, and I will strive to keep liquids in separate tanks (we all know how that goes...) Cheers ! 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166589-pressure-damage/#findComment-1823527 Share on other sites

GluttonyMain
Infinite storage strikes again. I know its unlikely at this point, but i pray that Klei finally fix this. I know its not easy to solve, but mixing 2 liquids should not result in broken tank.
