I'm having an idea for some kind of way to make the late game armors and weapons more customizable to make up for the fact that there are less unique post-rift armors compared to pre-rift content. What if you could upgrade all the late game armors and weapons with both unique to that item and general upgrades that can make them better and more customizable than their current base form which is literally just "same armor you already had but better and with minor buffs".

I'm thinking a new structure I'm going to call the anvil for right now, it's a special place that has both a crafting tab AND a utility use. If you craft with it, it will show you all the different upgrades, both useful and decorative, that you can add to your weapons and armor in a similar manner to how you can upgrade Walter's slingshot. 3 upgrade slots for each major part of the weapon or armor with an extra cosmetic trinket slot that can hold a variety of random items for a personal touch, including recolors.

To apply and change upgrades, you simply need to drag the armor or weapon over the anvil, which will bring up a menu similar in function to the Walter slingshot upgrade kit, letting you swap out different handles, blades, "coatings" (such as one made of slurtle slime, phlem, glommer goo), or trinkets. The possibilities are endless and would make each late game armor more unique compared to the 3 different late game armor sets we currently have.

One final note, there would also be a setting that lets you add a label of some kind to any item you use the anvil on, but it would require a feather pencil or some other new writing tool. If you use a tool but leave it blank, it instead creates a random one for you like how a sign will autofill if you click random.

This is a possible solution to the lack of variety of armor/weapons in the late game, but I would much prefer new armors/weapons that aren't just tied to rift-resources themselves but also to the resources that are introduced as a consequence of the rifts.

The problem is that there is not much content focusing on indirect consequences of the rifts. New biomes that pop up in various ways and general additions to make the world harder would be lovely and would facilitate the addition of new resources for new powerful utilities

that sounds like so much content that the dev will never be able to finish
