A.P.Erson
IDEA CONCEPT This is an idea I've had for a while now ever since the WARBIS item set released, but now that the latest update has shown itself, I finally have a good grasp on what it would really be. It would be similar to a certain other item in one of the singleplayer DLCs but ported over in Don't Starve Together and re-contextualized to fit the setting, although currently I don't have much of an idea on WHERE you would get it specifically at the moment. DESCRIPTION The S.P.U.D (Which stands for Spontaneous Procedural Upgrade Device) is a rigid cube that resembles the original W.A.R.B.I.S theme with the cogs and the parts scrapped together, but it looks more refined and polished to a perfected degree. On the top of it is a red button with a glass dome with what appears to be a key wedged in it already, ready to turn at a moments notice. USE OF ITEM In order to use it, you need at least one person wearing a full set of WARBIS armor and to be standing in the same general area of at least 3 pitchfork tiles of the box as it is left on the ground. It will still function if there are multiple WARBIS users in the area. Right clicking the device will turn the key, releasing the glass cover and making the red button glow, inviting a second right click of the device for confirmation, upon which each and every WARBIS user in the area will undergo a transformation sequence, very similar to how the Living Artifact works, converting each suit into what I will call WARBIS 2.0 PROTOTYPE. These players will now get to enjoy the suits for as long as they last. The device is a unique item, meaning it can only exist once in the entire world and will not be able to be lost as it will be dropped upon logging off from a player, nor can be stolen by any enemy or destroyed in any way. THE SUIT ITSELF The WARBIS 2.0 PROTOTYPE is a power suit that resembles the original WARBIS armor set, except it covers every single gap and looks infinitely more refined and hardened, including glowing lunar energy being emitted from the gaps of the suit. Wearing one grants you invincibility and a new punch melee attack that deals the damage of a tentacle spike, however the swing speed is 25% faster than regular attack speed. Very much like the armor previous, it has a lock on feature that enhances combat as you attack on a locked on target, but unlike the previous suit it has the capability of locking on to up to 3 targets at once. Attacking a target for the first time will place a lock on them with no penalty up to the first 3 times, which will keep the boost you have. If you gain a new target of any kind, instead of completely losing your boost you only lose 25% of lock on progress, meaning you can return to max speed just by swapping to new targets every time. The boost from lock on is slightly changed, as the speed boost is still present but the damage buff is now changed to an attack speed buff, eventually increasing your attack speed to a bonus 100%, meaning you will swing at a bonus 125% faster than a regular player at max suit upgrade. If you are to right click a target, the suit will launch 3 homing missiles into the air that will lock on and land directly at each individual locked on target, or will seek the closest target if you have no suck lock on or if there are less than 3 targets. Each missile does 50 direct damage to the target and a bonus 50 area damage in a pitchfork tiles radius. After firing missiles you will have to wait an extra 5 seconds after impact. The duration of the suit ranges depending on how many players are transformed with the S.P.U.D. If only one player uses it then the suit will last 3 minutes, the exact same as the living artifact from hamlet, but any further users will split the battery life, but not completely. For every player that transforms with a suit, they will split the power equally but each individual player will get a bonus amount of battery life, equaling around 60% of the total battery per player if split between two players, meaning that overall having more players will equate to more total battery life collectively, although individually it will drain at a rapid rate. AFTERWARDS Upon the users being drained of all their power, the individual suits will explode, leaving the players inside stunned for a moment but also dealing 200 damage to anything too close to them at the blast. The S.P.U.D device will then go into a battery recharge state and will then require a power source of some kind. I don't really have much of an idea of what specifically since the item would most likely need to be recharged with a boss item of some kind, otherwise it would be blatantly overpowered. I think it would be an amazing idea to add an item like this, a more team oriented version of the Living Artifact that can be shared to cause massive chaos against enemies and could even be used in the final fight of the game, would that ever actually come to pass. If you have any ideas of tweaks of the item as I have described here, feel free to mention it!
