With gasification you don't necessarily NEED water, but it does make the process more efficient. Still is needs high temperatures and high pressures to create this result . . . so maybe I should combine all these threads at this point due to that theme. I don't know.

It allows us to break plastic down into shorter chains of useful hydrocarbons. Trouble is we can't really control how much the hydrocarbon chain breaks down.

Mechanically this might mean the fraction of mass is divided between Naphtha, Petroleum, Wax(Brackene), and Sour Gas.
This would be a great for a situation where a LOT of preexisting plastic might be salvaged, to create a mid-game energy source for that type of scenario. A planetoid or wrecked pre-tech vessel of some sort.
