I mostly post stuff on reddit and stuff when I make concept arts. But this one is held in my heart deeply and is my new project sorta-

Specifically- I cant code or program and every time I look at it- I die inside. Soooo- I will just continue to do what is my strongest quality which is making Ideas

Also ive had this concept since October of last year- and only now am I really delving deep into it.

Ive always loved the Dont Starve DLCs so much. Hamlet was my favorite of the two but I still appreciated the love and care put into both, with lots of new creatures and resources. Environments and Seasons. So I had an idea- What if I were to make a Mod Concept for DST that is in the same caliber of DLC like- Specifically- I wanted to rewrite the story, and make a firey, magmatic wasteland that our survivors endured to live in. Which is where I give you my first fragments of the idea, From The Ashes (FTA) image.png.406daa24e69f5771da2d2b61ba3616ce.png

image.png.f76fa02f87c24e9a69602e2ac010d0d3.png

A place filled with lava and ash, flaming krissures and charcoal boulders. Similar to Shipwrecks Volcano but much more in depth-

A world where the story is warped and a secret lies between every coal of this new hell.

We shall start off this Concept Journey with the Season Cycle

Whilst Hamlet has 3 Seasons, and Shipwrecked has 4 Seasons, FTA I think would fit in with 5 seasons!

Also unlike any other season cycle in the game, these season aren't too different from each other. But rather- a horrid cycle that ramps up temperatures over time to the point of unbearable heats. With the world changing around the player in the ways of monsters, and resources

image.png.6f8d635cadbf36e4ff6c3363135702f2.pngStarting with the First Season we have Ember-

Ember is the starting season, with ash falling from the sky and piling up over structures and resources. It is a cool temperature for this fiery wasteland.

Within this season many things will be dormant, or cooled down. Specifically a new label for a lot of enemies in this world is Fire Born

Fire Borns are creatures that are pure flame, born from the lava or krissure they came from. For example- Lavaes would be considered Fire Born. A key thing to note is that within this season, Fire Born enemies will deal significantly less damage. 80% Less to be exact.

A Lavae normally would do 50 Damage to a player. But now- in the Ember Season, it will do 80% Less meaning it will deal 10 Damage a hit rather than 50.

This is the same for every Fire Born enemy at all times.

Another important thing to note is Ash Covered Plants

image.png.059fd54d8106c8278c74b12768a39511.png

Plants who were survived the flames has been covered in an ash that keeps them safe. When harvesting resources from plants covered in ash it will also drop pieces of ash from the disturbance.

Plants Covered in ash will take twice as long to regrow/enhance to the next growth stage since whilst they are safe from flames, they are harder to grow.

When Shoveling these plants up, it will give you the normal plant. (Ex: Ashy Saplings when dug up just give Saplings)

This can be extremely dangerous in later seasons when ash stops falling and there is nothing of flames in the air. Thankfully- when ash falls again it will cover the plants with the ash once again. However, that might not be good enough for some unfortunate people who decide to plant crops later on, or there happens to be a drier than dry spell of ash. So simply- we can simply just cover plants with ash with a new item called the Bag O' Ash-

image.png.d53344e0a2b36a8220f852bb086584ba.png

Similar to a Bucket of Poop, You can craft a special grass bag. This bag can hold different powdered items that would disappear on the floor. Now unable to disappear on the floor in a bag. The Bag costs 6 grass, and 2 ropes to craft which then it can hold a certain amount of ash inside.

The total amount of ash that can be held inside this bag is 40 ash. Each use of the bag removes 2 ash from inside and degrades its durability.

Once Durability reaches 0% the bag will just be empty for you to refill it.

This Ash can be used on structures, and plants alike.

To think you are safe in this world is an understatement when you see the new Lavae Dens

image.png.58bdff9117c35d9cba7b6de786ac821a.png

Lavae dens will slowly build up over time during the Ember Season and will collapse on the final season

image.png.2fdef1e2a2ab5509a97666187e7c57bb.png

Speaking of Seasons the Smolder season is next

The Temperature rises but not enough to damage the player.

It doesnt happen often in this season but a Krissure can open, which might spew out special rocks from beneath.

Ash falls less often as well

Stuff begins to smolder when not protected by ash

Fire Born enemies deal 50% less damage instead of 80% (Ex: Lavae does 50 DMG and now does 25 DMG instead of 10 DMG)

image.png.4c341b6093e803f0acd8c63367ab7257.png

The Next Season is Sweltering.

Within this season Krissures appear more often, The Temperature does raise to the point of damaging the player.

Fire Borns Deal 20% less DMG than before (Ex: Lavae does 50 DMG and now does 40 DMG instead of 25 DMG)

Ash Stops falling in this season

Stuff will start catching on fire faster from smoldering quicker

Rare Chances of a Fire Tornado the unleashes destruction

image.png.7f068fa20c886a715582f4af77f2f87d.png

The Temperature is even hotter and can drain lots of different cooling resources, dealing even more temperature damage.

Krissures are everywhere

Fire Borns deal base damage (Ex: Lavae will just do the flat 50 DMG)

Stuff Catches on fire instantly and smoldering is reduced a lot

Fire Tornadoes are more frequent

image.png.b38d70553180d0d1e8b5736f81255cd8.png

The Heat is extremely Lethal

Krissures dont ever stop spewing flames

Fire Tornadoes are a normal occurrence

Fire Borns deal 20% more Damage (Lavae deals 50 DMG and now does 60 DMG)

Smoldering doesnt exist and its only instant fires, similar to normal Dont Starve

With These Seasons they may not seem like much is going on other than flames and pain.

But! That is what is so special about this concept- The Seasons arent suppose to be the main course of the Concept but rather, its everything that lives within this season cycle that changes based on seasons.

For example- I have one new way so far to combat heat- a Wintry Plant!

image.png.b83a45e72509078fe06a0cee6b1083be.png

Wintry Plants are a very special plant that grows in FTA. This plant is unique because its only limitations are how much energy it can expend.

This Plant lives off heat, and turns this heat into nutrients which then it creates a fruit of cold nature called a Frigid Fruit. Frigid Fruits are very important because when consumed, they give a cooling affect that lasts for a little bit. When Cooked, it loses its frigid nature and rather is used as a decent Food Dish when cooked on its own.

Within the Ember Season- These Wintry Plants will be dead, withered, and not capable of producing fruit. This is because it just isnt hot enough for it to get its nutrients.

Within the Smoldering Season- These Wintry plants start to breathe in the heated air and grow the Frigid Fruits.

Within the Sweltering Season- These Wintry Plants will grow and evolve more- developing spikes which defend itself from being plucked. Similar to cactus

The Scorching Season- These Wintry Plants have so much heat built up that they can start to move around- These are a dangerous foe that will not go down without a fight- swiping its thorny stalk at you and burrowing underground to defend itself.

Within the Inferno Season- These Wintry Plants burrow underneath once again, there is always such thing of too much of something and these plants, whilst native to this wasteland cant even take the hottest that this world has to offer.

Now there isnt much to this Concept left other than a couple more fragments-

The progression of this Concept DLC is obtaining 5 special Gems that are held by different Flaming Bosses around the World

image.png.e5f45e47fd87ad3d9c0a9e37e1a7b1a7.png

One takes similarities of the Forge Final Boss The Infernal Swinclops- but forged and repurposed into the Infurnal Clops

image.png.5c5ed6912a5ac5bca77046c487629edf.png

Born from Brimstone and charged with the Gem of Tropics- This Forged Beast lays dormant for someone to challenge their worth.

image.png.5cb385a3f7b24531ce6cfb40bcdd9399.png

The King Krissure- a Beast so Large that lives beneath the ashy rocks, bursting out of Krissures to attack its foes with the power of its Gem of Nightshade, for it has an appetite for the most Frigid of Fruits.

image.png.8a0090946c3872ce7000c89e9faa3f67.png

The Lavae King - An Amalgamation of Lavaes who gained power through its Gem of Magma to become one singular being who have no mother to call to.

image.png.3156622bf9e1a9cdf42b03cef124ffa9.png

The Fallen Fig - A Tree burned from the lava it was forced to endure, taken shape and reformed into an ashy beast with the Gem of Botany.

image.png.0d974c77cc71eb628376eab369135ce0.png

The Magmatic Spider Queen - Originally a Queen with a brood that was left to burn, The Gem of Brimstone was found and a new brood was born.

With that- That is about it for this First part- I have more ideas to comes such as, Character Reworks/Changes to help with the environment.

Changing or tweaking skill tree items to make them make sense to the Infernal Wastes

Adding More Boss Concepts

At least 1 New Character- (Ill give you a hint.. it starts with W)

Lots of new creatures/enemies

Able to sail in Lava somehow

New Crockpot dishes

Changes to farming to make it much more- interesting

New Armor and Weapons that come from bosses- and new creatures

A whole Race that are traders and have their own villages

A Final Boss

and anything else I think of- but for now- Ill leave you with this drawing/sketch I did to illustrate the boss progression/new bosses added when the Altar is "Awakened"

Enjoy all these fun things and id love feedback! Also- this isnt a mod that im planning to make at all- this is just illustrations we can enjoy for creativity and cool ideas- maybe it will be turned into a mod! who knows- but im definitely not the one who would be behind the scenes programming xD (also- I said From The Ashes like twices in this whole post xD but yes thats the Concept names idea)
