Unable to get in-game skins

HI!! I've been playing a couple of weeks, and I'm completely unable to get the skins drops when in-game. I get the notification, I go to the science machine and press X as it says in the screen and only inspects the machine. What I'm doing wrong??

The button prompt is just mislabeled, the Y button (button for e.g. attacking) is the one to use.  You're not doing anything wrong

Hi @Mirage_samm,

We're not aware of any issues related to opening skin gifts on the Switch. We just checked on our end and the button prompt appears as the correct one for us. Would you happen to have screenshots or a video clip of when you receive a skin gift and attempt to open it
