The new alignment grid feature is amazing- the way you are able to switch between different grid sizes was not what I expected!
That being said, I have a gripe with its current state: There is only one option to align structures with the centre of a tile, which is the Tile option. This only puts a single structure in the middle of a tile, which is problematic if you want to align other structures anywhere close it!
I visualised the difference in the screenshot here:

As you can see, the base game option does not allow us to neatly align structures in the line as the centered chest.
While not the end of the world, this is a bit of QoL that allows a lot of freedom in building. Being able to line up structures on the exact corners and sides of a turf tile would be greatly appreciated. Maybe another keybind that allows you to snap the existing grid placements to fit this criteria could be added? Or even just a new grid option that's like a 3x3 grid? Who knows!

I second this notion!
I fiddled with it a lot today, and I really like where Klei was going with it, but it's juuust missing a "third-tile" (3x3) option.

For now (even if it's kinda awkward) you can get by using the 4x4 option (wall), hovering your mouse over the intersections and then holding shift to turn off the grid, and then you'll place your structures in a 3x3 formation with relative accuracy...though it may not be pixel perfect. It's pretty good though and will work for now.
