While the second exmaple certianyl looks weird, its literally just a tube, the tube should work even when "flooded". Visually there isnt anything suggesting water might itnerfere with it (like electronics), its just a tube that woudl work in air and in water. Likewise the tube would work even if both ends were in air. Theres a disconnect betwene mechanics and visuals.
