There are a lot of things related to "electricity" in the current game, like Lightning, Volt Goat, Morning Star, Moongleam, Hammered Lunar Altar, new content in this update, etc.

But the mechanisms and effects of these contents are almost all different. Some will charge WX-78 and Volt Goat, some won't. Some damages increase as Wetness rises, some won't, and some have completely different calculation methods. Some will trigger the player's shock action, some won't. The ways they interact with insulator items are also different.

But on the surface, all these contents are "electricity", making these things that look exactly the same actually such chaotic and lacking commonalities is really too bad for a game characterized by learning and exploration.

Since Dev has decided to make "electric shock" a universal mechanism among most mobs, I wish Devs can integrate these chaotic mechanisms and turn them into a unified and understandable standard mechanism, just like burn, freez or planar damage.

This post is just a trench coat disguise to ask for eletric elding spear to do 3x dmg instead of 1.5

Should I remind you that Morningstar, Electric Dart, and Volt Goat Chaud-Froid do 2.5x instead of 3? 2.5, 1.5, 1.75, seriously, are there more numbers that we need to remember? Thanks for proving the necessity of the main view of this topic.

oops, i mistake to 3x because of chili spice, but yea 2.5x dmg to wet target
also wx mention about lunar electric is different from normal electric, donno is it a way to pervent wx from abusing electricity or is a lore thing

Exactly! Electric weapons have been niche for too long. Back in the day, they could theoretically deal the highest damage of 73, but now that amount of damage is hardly impressive anymore.

how would you propose they did this

I think the best way is to take a union.

Enable all the electricity damage to charge WX-78 and Volt Goat, conduct between targets, trigger special electric shock SG, have a wetness damage multiplier, and be protected by insulation.

Edit: It seems they have taken a big step down this path. I'm trying to figure out how it works now...

You think with these new electricity changes we'll be getting  some more weapons that do electric damage? Feels like they're building up to something...

Probably Warly as well because his jelly.

I did some simple tidying up. The following table showing all the "electricity damage" and their effects in current build.

That was a disaster, it really need a unification.

Why not just make a new electricdamage component things to deal with all of it?  Klei? That's will be good for all dev, players and gameplay.

Or are get more weapons with statuses?

Here is the change after the latest update.

The main change was the addition of mob shock to some of the electric, and we got rid of the second worst one among them (volt goat).

Thank you Omar. This is a good start. Please keep going.
