just make sure they're in a loaded area before it happens really. One thing I did was to build my pig houses really close to the middle of my base (like chest area and kitchen). you can also just stand still and you're in a full moon, if you wait out the moon, only the current loaded area will have creatures moving, and if you were already there, chances are the pigs are inside instead of sleeping outside their houses.

I mainly fight all raid bosses in Winter. That's the same for summer until you get a crystaleyezer to winterout your base, In summer I just fish in the oasis and build my cave base unless you have a megabase INSIDE the oasis. In winter I like to farm crops, kill klaus, sail to the moon quay since monkeys don't come out in winter, explore the green biomes of the caves. Honestly it's a great opportunity to use the puffy vest/hibearnation vest + beefalo hat combo and explore the ocean too. You can also kill all underground spiders with hutch, clear the marsh biome from tentacles with deerclops.

Have "food traps". Put a pigskin or other food item the pigs can eat in a little enclosed pen. That way they'll get stuck as they try to get the food item when they turn into werepigs, instead of destroying your base.

It's often handy to have two of these per pig section, in case there's some kind of accident.

I don't like these cause they make them chase the food even in regular pigman form. I like them to roam around.
