Topis
I'm hosting a 4 sharded dedicated server with Island Adventures mod. As shown in the video, i experience these lag spikes every 30-40 seconds. It's getting really annoying. I also tried hosting this server on my second computer to reduce RAM and CPU usage, but the situation remained the same. How can I fix this issue? I've been trying for days, but still nothing has changed. My pc specs: i5-7500 3.40GHz 16 GB RAM GTX 1060 3GB Server mods used: Island Adventures - Shipwrecked, Island Adventures - Core, Show Me (Origin) dst_lag_spike_1.mp4 dst_lag_spike_2.mp4 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164730-experiencing-periodic-lag-spikes-on-a-4-sharded-dedicated-server/ Share on other sites
HopelessBot
from what i know island adventures and shipwrecked these two mods are huge and can take a toll on your cpu. Also they are always running always begin processed, even if noone is in that shard. I can't come up with a sensible explanation for it. Maxil20
When I myself run IA on my main world, I use task manager’s “CPU affinity” to force each shard to use a different core (as while DST can only use 1 core at a time, each separate shard can use a different core), and make it so my client/other applications are using cores other than the shard ones. I find it makes a significant difference when you don’t have 3+ shards and the client fighting for ~2 cores. I should note that I am running windows 10 (I tried 11 and I for the life of me couldn’t understand why windows throttled my background processes, which included the dedicated server…) and I have a pretty beefy computer (intel i7 12700K, 32 GB RAM, and an RTX 3060).
