Improving Cartographer's Desk, Map Scroll & Compass

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of more uses for the Cartographer's Desk, and I know there are some ideas to use it by adding more elements to the map, like marking places, mainly the Beefalo biome or other points of interest.

So, I was thinking of using the Compass to point and to track (route) all those features and then draw them on the map using the Cartographer's Desk.

Points are easy to understand, but regarding routes, after you draw a route on your map, you could follow it (navigate) as an imaginary line above the ground (or water) when a Compass is equipped. I mean, you can already see the route on your map, but with the Compass, you could "see" it on the terrain.

I thought this could be useful in winter, when paths are covered by snow, or at sea for navigation.

Actually, I originally thought of this as a skill for Wilson (in case there is a rework in the future), but I believe it should be a basic skill for every character.
