Slingshot Bands Aren't Worth It.

Recommended Posts

So, I just tested it, and here's the results. image.png.e894d2fb4997c3e22802d0bbf0472406.png

The pebble is no band, the gold is the pigskin band, and the thulecite/pure horror are the flailing and possessed bands. While the possessed band's ammo conservation seems like it could be worth it on its own, the attack range effects are just laughable. I got this result by doing the following:

1. Walking far from a punching bag.

2. Clicking on it to shoot it, first with no band, then the pigskin one, then the flailing one, then the possessed one.

3. After each shot, dropping a different ammunition type where I was standing to indicate the distance Walter attacked it from.

The results are consistent with the different bands. There's not even a quarter-tile range difference between no band and the top-tier ones.

Oh, wow. Yeah, that explains the decision to buff them a little bit in the latest update. I thought I noticed a meaningful difference between pigskin and flailing, but could just have been placebo effect.

To be clear: does the pebble mark the pigskin band or no band?

so uh, did you also test out the recently added projectile speed buff? is it still missing a lot against fast-moving enemies? because if no, then i think the bands are worth it. still skippable, but not horrible to take

Not yet, but I'm about to.
You will still miss things like Dragonfly during her lavae phase when she's further away from you, but aside from basically at the edge of your attack range, it seems like it keeps up pretty well.
