What I do is I choose a day 1 empty server and wait for other people to join without starting it, so they also start on day 1. Sometimes, somebody already played on that server, but left before the end of the first day. Displaying the number of minutes played on the server list would mean you can enter and reset it before anybody joins, so that you don't start on day 1 at night or dusk. If you join and it's dusk you can reset it, and if you join and it hasn't started yet you can just play.
