What if Woby Die when Hunger is 0, and had an actual hunger bar?

You must revive her with a tell tale heart or similar. You can feed her any food now, though vegegables restore half as she is a dog, and feeding her goodies will kill her.

When she dies, she will drain Walter's sainity and follow him about as a ghost.

I just felt like spitballing this idea because i thought it was interesting to discuss, and an interesting idea where you treat Woby as another survivor.

people are a lot keener on animals and pets so witnessing their deaths might be too grim even for an already grim aesthetic, i suggest that woby would either faint or rest where she is when her hunger reaches 0, unable to response to any command, even petting.

the veggies and especially the goodies idea is cool, feeding her candies will hurt her hunger or put her out of commission for a bit, or make her hyperactive and has the "zoomies".

I mean, if you didnt't feed your dog, it would die. It would be bad to teach kids that dog's can not starve than to spare their feelings.

Then Woby dies day 3 or 4 I guess.

That doesn’t set a good precedent. If you were forced to feed all of the critters no one would use them since they’d become a chore

also, dont try and put the realism argument into don’t starve, the whole point is that you’re in a different world with different rules. I don’t think a day is 8 minutes, or that most people starve to death within 2 days, and I’m like 70% certain people need to drink water

idk man i don't think a kid should be playing this game period. it's no horror or gory games but i wouldn't allow my kids to play this without supervision. if i want to teach them about mortality then idk i would get a tamagotchi or something

also when i said people i really didn't mean kids. grown-ups can also dislike seeing beloved pets pasta away :grumpy:

I mean we have UM that does at least some of them....

Ik this is a joke, but does the parent that gets them the dog in the first place spontaneously disappear, I'm really curious.

No.

this is a wild suggestion ngl - having woby die is one thing but she is not nearly as powerful (aside from 1 ability I discussed in depth) to warrant her being cared for like that...

The idea of having a survivor with a follower that is so strong that keeping them topped up/alive that you suffer heavily when they do die is an interesting concept though - Maybe we can get that with wilba? Wilba and a Knight's guard that buffs her stats and when they die you have to expend resources to get this elite knight back (Also disables a lot of her passives) In exchange they gotta be extremely strong tho.

and no I don't think wendy counts for this - Slightly but the concept in this is basically abigail is supercharged and wendy becomes borderline worthless when abigail is gone.
