Walter Beefalo Riding

Recommended Posts

The new slingshot frames encourage Walter to constantly right click. If you use a beefalo, it is inevitable that you will eventually accidentally dismount the beefalo, and then both you and your beefalo will probably get vaporized. This is especially the case because the beefalo dismount clickbox appears to extend well beyond the actual sprite of the beefalo.

Can something be done about this? Maybe make the dismount clickbox microscopic or have the button for using the slingshot or dismounting be different? Does anybody else have a problem with this?

I see 3 avenues here

  1. Don't aim so close to your character, put your cursor towards the edge of your screen.
  2. There will probably be a mod made to add a keybind for using the special slingshot action so you don't have to right click at all
  3. Woby at least pulls up context menu so use her instead

Personally I'm leaning towards just accepting #2, as there are a lot more annoying cases where you can accidentally right click stuff than just when using Woby/Beefalo.

maybe the ability to change keybinds to things that don't stink can become a part of the base game like pausing

i've been trying to get used to woby's new command wheel. you right-click on her to bring it up, and right-click on her again to bring it down. normally, you can right-click generally anywhere on your screen and it will bring the wheel down (i think). but when you have a lazy explorer equipped, if you don't right-click on woby, you'll teleport instead.

not trying to complain or anything, just want to chime in my experience so far.

New woby is interesting but I'm also addicted to the skills that require you to not use woby as a mount.
The one thing this update makes me wish for is a dedicated skill wheel key because the sheer number of ways to invoke one has lead to some interesting situations where I invoke it on accident a lot when switching characters.

I would encourage you to try new Woby. The Shadow aligned skill gives so much potential to kite around that fighting on Woby is way more forgiving now.

It is extremely unfortunate that she doesn't have a melee attack

Thats what the slingshot is for. Its powerfull and brings diverse combinations to fight with. I fail to see the point of trying to skip the design of playing it ranged when all the requirements sinergize together.

speaking of keybinds, I would definitely like it if the dash skill doesnt use the double click. Fail rate of this double click is a bit too high.

Very true tho. I would like to have a double right click instead but that may cause confusion with the special attack for some players, so kinda lost on that one.

It's just a little sad when you have to consume your ammo in order to kill a single regular spider

Oh.

Yeah that might be the case to be wise to pick what u can  - marble farm early in the game can offer you to be using them as regular day by day ammo and u dont have to worry about having enough or not once u can base in how many u plantedv so I would recomend to start planting as soon as you can.

But in a more aggressive approach to the game cursed rounds from ruins are just fine as wine - spare thulecite can be used in walls that can be hammered or smashed by giants for fragments. No reason to fight with the friend that mains Wanda cuz t hey are renewable by killing fuelweaver or going for the archives and once u learn the craft u can always do more wherever you are.

In the late game dreadstone can be renewable too using mimics and dread ammo has a chance to fall on the ground without breaking. Not only that but if you manage to get a tentacle band possessed that thing mimics the ammo too. It has a lot of recycling potential here.

Example of the mimic abuse explained:

all the credits to this guy it was genious to pay atention to this detail. You can always multiply dreadstone with green magic by dumping nightmare saddles too.

My preferred cheapo bullet is horror bullet because walter is pretty good at killing shadelings and you get so many from killing chest mimics in the labyrinth

Use moon glass round honestly. You can get stacks just from a single trip to lunar island (which you want to do to prototype it anyway) and you can get a lot more in lunar grotto. You're basically set for every day use ammo the whole run up to rifts, and at that point you don't even have to go to caves since glass literally fall from the sky.
