The Reliance On Killer Bee Biome With Wortox Is Too High.

After about a 40-day playthrough today with Beta Wortox I realized that having anything other than Bee-Hell (what we call killer bee biome on pub servers) for Wortox can actually influence picking him as a character to play, let me explain.

Getting souls is easier than ever now and there's no denying this however how accessible those souls are risk wise and reliance on them plays a role. Before you say "Spider quarry" this is actually way more riskier than Bee-Hell. One soul hits another spider that's on a web on a T3 den and now you have warrior spiders that can cause a stunlock then boom you're dead because you can't teleport while stunned. (And you have like 7 days before those tier 1&2 go to 3)

Splukmonkies are a decent source but you have to most spend a lot to jump there in the caves and also do it at the right time in caves too. Bats in caves are good too but the inconvenience of loading another shard just to go kill bats get souls then come back is a headache compared to the end all be all: Bee-Hell.

Having a Bee-Hell in your map generation is a HUGE qol with Wortox over any other naturally occuring map generation. Now of course you can create farms etc but there is nothing better than multiple killer bee nests in terms of ease of use and low risk soul gathering.

Again, this is just naturally occuring non-player built soul farming. Hitting regular bee nests will eventually asaik permanently destroy them.

We need either a higher chance to get the Killer Bee Biome in map generating or a way to create killer bee nests or turn regular ones to killer bee type.

Tldr: First World problems with Wortox.

Don't think so. You could easily to make a bee farm by using mast ice flingomatic + torch + bee boxes. It's far more easier and cheaper than spider farms.

You should not expect a naturally soul farm for your character. I have never heard any other characters would averagely have such a privilege to gain a free farm by world generation in day 0 in every single world.

i.e. - a simple bee farm.

I really have no idea why such cheap farm would still not enough for a specific character.

You can simply use a debug command when you're on a fresh world to check for killer bee nests. I also agree that he's heavily reliant on a killer bee biome to use his kit at max efficiency, but that's not really anything new—Willow is just as crutched on bees as well.

By chance do you know what this command is? Also does it work in unhosted worlds? Definitely would save me a lot of time.

I really wish there was a way to convert bee hives to Killer Bee Hives at the very least.

c_announce("Beehives: " .. c_countprefabs("beehive") .. "\nKiller Bee Hives: " .. c_countprefabs("wasphive"))

If you'd rather teleport to each hive individually to see where it is, you can do:
c_gonext("wasphive")

Both only work as host.

For what it's worth I've been hoping Klei implements the ability to select which optional biomes spawn in world settings for a while now.
There is a mod for that, Force Biomes, but it's not like Klei hasn't put other mods that were good ideas into the game before (Shift drop is a good example)

I see, hopefully there's a client mod that tells me if there are killer bee biomes in the world. I seen one used for Triple Tusks I wonder if it works for both.

I checked, and the point still stands.
Making bee boxes still net you honey and also easy to operate at any time of the year, and you can make them anywhere you want unlike the killer hives.
And in the end, if you're really, really, desperate, you can always use mods to guarantee the biome. Plenty of pubs already use it for triple McTusk anyway.
Even when playing Willow I never bother to go to killer bee biome to get my ember fix since just by killing stuff day to day is enough for my needs already.

Seemingly not, this post is aimed at showing how reliant Wortox seems to be on a specific biome qol wise outside of player built farms. Even the player built farms you're referring to doesn't net as many souls as the killer bee biome and it's not even close. Also the Killer Bee Biome is active in all seasons.

As a person that prefers Klei public servers, using host mods isn't an option. Triple Tusks not being default in Klei Official Servers is a different story but more annoying than this lol.

A way to create killer bee hives would be great.

TBH this would probably be the best outcome, maybe toss in natural boulders while we're at it. I've been wanting to make a more natural looking base for a while now.

We could only hope that Biome Gen gets an update but I don't think it's changed in like 6+ years but don't quote me. I'm baffled at how an additional deciduous biome or (fake pk) is a thing in World Gen still.

im thinking, is it gonna be nice if bee queen spawns 2 killer bee hives every time shes summoned but not killed, when she goes back to being a gigantic bee hive

Of course this may need a cooldown

This could be nice! Maybe give it like a 30 day cooldown or something.
