Request for a little more transparency for when this update might release

I think Klei does a wonderful job keeping community feedback in mind and I really like how active the forums are voicing opinions about how the future of the game could be best managed. I assume Klei is in a rough position here since they've spent so long on this character update so it can be difficult to pinpoint a release but I think that clarifying with the community in the next hotfix post what the state of Wortox and Wendy is internally would be really good for conducting better feedback. A lot of posts on the forums are discussing reworking Wendy's skill tree entirely, for example, while other people talk about very minor changes. Making it clear what is and isn't feasible with the precious development time allotted to this update would be good for expectation management. I say none of this to be super critical since I do really appreciate Klei's care trying to make this a strong update. However, many people are very frustrated with Wendy's skill tree, and a smaller group, myself included are frustrated by Wortox's lack of development recently. After Walter's fantastic rework, I do hope that Klei has an easier time moving forward only needing to put major attention into two of the three parts to this update.

Personally I think the update is gonna release soon - They did say wendy's stuff was almost done, At this point I think they may add a small thing or two or tweak some skills but overhauls and etc are not gonna happen. I think they said something similarly for wortox, His is almost done, don't quote me on that tho - Personally I think all the three skill trees are *Good* as they are rightnow... I think the real issue is that klei barely revisits skill trees (I dont think they have) so people want the release to be perfect... out of fear that it will be this way for years later.

Atp I'm just hoping they add a tweak/rework for wendy's sisturn, revert the shadow potion nerf, and buff the duration on the murder effect (wish they just reworked it tbh) for abigail - All small tweaks except the sisturn thing - Hope they do it but don't expect it.

I don't play wortox but I actually like his skill tree and how it looks, It really looks cool and pretty thematic for him so will probably get me to play him - However, I never played wortox so idk how it fairs on good/bad

Walter's skill tree is definitely done at this point - Minor tweaks and maybe change a skill.

 

All in all I think (And hope) the release comes out this week/next

Totally agree that Klei posting dev notes as of lately has been nice and think it's the best choice from a development perspective.

That said,
If I'm in Klei's shoes right now I am understandably wary of expressing certain design choices because community negativity towards some of them has been staggering (See all of the recent personal attacks on developers as a good example of this).
To be clear there is good criticism that comes out of this, I'm not saying that's bad. I'm just saying it gets drowned out by the doomposts.

Still a good thing, still wish they did it more, just... hooh I wish this environment wasn't as caustic as it is sometimes.

I don't think there is any realistic chance of this beta lasting longer than 1~2 more weeks. Main thing holding it back was Walter being incomplete, but now he has a skill tree, so... Yeah, should be released soon.

I, as a player am very displeased because they dont give a certain date, everyday I open Steam to see if there's update, its so frustrating. I made my wife, and 4 people waiting for this update so we play together with new skilltrees. But i'm almost at my limit.
I don't ask to make updates quickly, but at least give us a date to be anxious and make a hype.

Yeah I cannot see this being too much of a wait. They've said that they're happy with Wortox and are only considering some aesthetic changes to the knabsack, Walter's has pretty much unanimous applause with only a few small tweaks that people have suggested at most and the courier skill they're working on, so Wendy is the only one up in the air at all and they've already fiddled around with hers a bunch.

I don't get what there is to be frustrated with Wortox not getting more changes. He has a really good skilltree, I'm sure most would agree. Nothing is going to be tweaked to perfection because there is no such thing. Perfect differs from person to person. They are already behind on the update schedule, if they dwell on such minimal stuff this will be the only update we'll get this year. Wenders have shown they are not satisfied so that's should be the priority in order to actually have this update be released. Honestly I applaud Klei for not giving in but at this point just give Abby flat 75 percent dmg reduction.

I'm afraid I cannot agree w this one. As the devs clarified that the 3 skill trees are developed in parallel, Wendy and Wortox should be worked on separately. The fact that wenders are not satisfied and delayed the release of this update does not mean that the issues with wortox are minimal.

There has been many discussions around here about the excessive amount of filler skills in his skill tree, and they are all eager to see these issues addressed. I get how frustrating it is to have an update delayed for so long, but it in the end goes back to the title of this thread - Transparency. If wendy and wortox players get updated on how the skill tree is going every now and then, it would be optimal.

I've only seen people complain about soul decoy 2 being filler (I agree). I don't know what else is excessive. He got strong buffs and his gameplay is very fun. It was already fun before but now it's even better. Everyone was in agreement that his skilltree was great and just needed tweaks to knabsack and now what has changed? Why does he need work now all of a sudden? Also I wouldn't complain if it was further refined I'm a Wortox "main" too. I'm just saying we will never get to that ideal vision some people have.

Ah that was what they said when the trees were first released? I mean it looks better than it actually feels... thats my feeling of it as a former wortox main lol

For filler skills, some say that Cloudy Carmen and Soul Bastion are both bad/need condensing

Nothing changed. I think you're overlooking a lot of Wortox feedback, though.

Naughty was terribly messed up at beta launch. The problems were greatly improved since then, but echoes of the original messed up design persist.

I'm talking about the whole duration of the beta.Yeah cloudy carmen isn't very interesting and should be condensed but something will need to replace it even if it's condensed. Soul bastion is alright.

If most people think Wortox's tree is great then good for them. Personally, I think his is among the weakest trees, a little better than Wolfgang and Wilson but definitely not good. And this is due to him having the worst ratio of total skills to actually good skills. His kit is just boring and soul jars just make him unkillable for the most part.

Just to be clear,  "wendy pushback," "the complainers" does not only include requests for Buff for Wendy, but also requests for Nerfs for Wendy such Gestabby was able to AFK bosses and Sistern III. I remember both requested equally strongly.

iv got one for you. covetous collector spans over 12 skill points and this is fine i guess. 3 for itself. 3 for decoy 3. 4 for soul pierce and 2 for pleasant pastoral, but this is fine
