Just because a character is popular doesn't mean the character is strong

I honestly love Wendy being easy to pick up and hard to master. She's the character that I stuck on when I was a beginner. And after playing her a bit, and liking Abby a ton. I was pretty determined to defeat every boss, with Abby at my side.

The game does such a good job with Abby. She protects you in combat, and helps you to a degree no other follower does. But at the same time has no effect outside of it in other chores. Which really reminds the player of the fact that she's dead and gone. And reinforces the tragedy of the character.

It's that Abigail is incredibly strong at what she does while simultaneously being disproportionally weaker in other areas. If Abigail kept her overheal, for instance, 1200 hp would completely invalidate any mob that isn't a boss, which is why they are trying the player tag approach. However, Abigail herself is at a fairly fine point power-wise thanks to her vex, her main issue compared to other followers has always been her survivability and if they can manage to improve this in a way that's engaging for both new players and advanced players then I think Wendy will be in a good spot.

Even for gestalt Abigail, I think she will be fine as long as they make Wendy required to be involved in the fight for maximum potential in a similar way to Maxwell's puppets as an example. That can honestly be applied to Abigail in general, they are sisters that are supposed to fight together so they should be weak by themselves (Wendy is, Abigail is not)

Wendy is able to absolutely ignore hound waves. Even in multiplayer, Abby is able to handle hounds.

If you mean at 100 days, the only threat is the varglet, not a hound lol. But by that time, you as a player should be able to easily deal with varglets. Wendy is able to ignore hounds, as Abby blends them, and have an easier time dealing with varglets.

As mentioned, Willow takes resources, her embers. Also, unlike other followers, Bernie doesn't follow you for long. He deactivates if you get too far, meaning that by day 100, you're carrying him in your inventory, not running with him. So if the hounds suprise, he may not be able to help. Unlike Abby who will automatically help you, and will probably be already summoned.

Wolfgang is brain dead, of course he can deal with houd waves.

And Walter certainly doesn't have it easier than Wendy. He needs a special ammo to deal with them. Mostly aoe such as moonglass and stingers. Stingers don't deal much damage, and pale in comparison to Abby being free, as well as automatic.

All I'm saying is that even Abby can't handle a large number of hounds for a novice, and you're wrong to say that Wendy can ignore the hound wave. If you are not a novice, any of the characters can easily solve these problems.

Hound waves never spawn enough hounds to overwhelm Abby. Only thing dangerous to her is varglets. Which spawn much later on.

Abby does get knocked down by hounds. I've seen that with my own eyes

Early on, not really. Later on, sure. But firstly, if it's two Wendys, then two Abby can easily do it. But even if the other player is another character, two players plus Abby can easily squash any hound waves. If you as a Wendy, are noticing that your Abby is beginning to not be able to take care of multiple player's hounds, then don't make her take care of the hounds if other players, just yours.

Are you talking about hounds from hound fortresses? Because if you're talking about hound waves, I have no idea how you managed that. I

We were a long way away and my Internet problems prevented me from helping her, so she started over many times, Did not survive the hound attack

Yea, of course lag can kill you. That's not the fault of Abby being weak or anything, but the game lagging a lot.

All characters will obviously be weak if you lag a lot. That's not really the fault of balance or any character being weak. I mean, Willow was previously mentioned as someone that can wipe hounds easily, yet she still can die if she lags and hounds interrupt her spells due to it.

Not Wendy being weak, just you, and me, having weak computers, and bad internet.

Also, if you're playing solo, try out the Don't Starve Alone mod, if you haven't already. Helps a lot for me.

What I'm saying is that if the player is not good enough, Wendy is not that strong, even in the areas she is good at.

You didn't really detail the info of what happened when she died

Was it to a varg or varglet? Was it to a hound wave or hounds from the place around Dragonfly? Was she riled up or soothed?

If the player is not good enough, no character is strong. And no, Wendy's skills are still of use if you aren't a rookie lol

In fact, what Wendy can do, all the other characters can do relatively easily. For the more difficult bosses, at least most of them, her ability doesn't help, and it gets harder

All characters? Are you fr?

Also in the time other characters get what they need to use their abilities. Wendy can easily get a cure-all or two, which does allow Abby to fully solo hound waves.

This argument seems a bit off-topic. I have to remind the poster that the reason some people on this forum are so fixated on hound attacks is because they are very confused about a lot of the content in the From Beyond update. In other words, many of them may not have played in Lunar Rift + Shadow Rift rifts very often. They have no idea how exaggerated the impact of Planar Entity and the new bosses is on Wendy's abilities. That's why they are so focused on the influence of hound attacks, because they can't find any more threatening content.

only for wendy. the other survivours have to actually fight them or have to sink time and resources into followers.
