I'll be the one to say it, when the beta first released it was very unpolished but even I didn't think it deserved that type of reaction from the community. But I think even though the beta was lackluster, I feel the root cause of alot of the complaints are built up from an overall year of lackluster communication and lack of support from the devs. People feel they have to resort to extreme rhetoric to even catch the attention of the devs on their beloved characters. I don't condone it at all but I can see where they're coming from. Right now, I feel like there's a huge disconnect with the klei devs and players and the fact is it feels like the devs don't even play their game nor do they listen to the community. This forum which is full of players that are passionate about the game give great suggestions or balance suggestions and most of the times they are ignored or fixed months later For instance look at the void masque update released last year. Rock lobsters kept multiplying everywhere even in ruins making caves very laggy, masques littered everywhere and borderline unplayable. People made threads to stop the void masque lobsters from multiplying months ago and we just now got a fix for it recently. Or another example, the great worm spawn timer constantly getting reset so rarely anyone got to even encounter the boss, people made threads about that and that also took a long time to fix. ...Small things like making fossils unable to be placed close together, when the same wall effect can be achieved with statues just don't make sense to me if the devs actually played the game. Overall I think the devs are doing great and I really enjoyed some updates last year like winona's skilltree which I feel they hit it out the park with, but I wish they were more willing to listen to the community. I understand 100 percent of every voice on the forum cant be heard but I wish we as the community can at least see some effort from the devs to actually engage with the community instead of leaving us with silence and the occasional dev comment. Despite the large playerbase, I still think this is a niche community that originally started small and has alot of loyal players, myself included. Alot of players don't agree with the direction klei is going but at least we have a direction. I hope the game and community can continue to improve. TLDR: I wish the devs communicated more with the community.
