WeWoWa Posted January 24, 2025 Share Posted January 24, 2025 As a Wendy main, I understand that you feel bad about Klei ignoring Wortox and not putting effort into refining him. However, you shouldn't complain and blame the fact that all the attention has been focused on Wendy/Walter because they have larger communities. Instead, you should blame Klei. After all, you’re still in the best situation because, although your skill tree still requires some fixes and unfortunately doesn’t have animations as good as those added to Wendy, you have to remember that Walter mains don’t even have a completed concept for their skill tree. His tree is missing an entire survival category, and from what I’ve heard, Woby needs improvement, and his ammo needs balancing (apparently, some ammo types aren’t worth using at all). This means Walter mains are suffering the most because Klei didn’t even finish his tree, and there’s not much time left until the update releases on official servers. You might think, "Well, they say they’ll add it in the next update," but considering what they did with Wendy, I’m afraid Walter’s tree won’t meet expectations, and Klei won’t have time to fix it. Returning to Wendy, her case is completely different. I would compare it to a beautiful bridge that is nicely decorated and carefully crafted but supported by a flimsy pillar that will cause it to collapse as soon as someone tries to cross it, wasting all the effort. Wendy is the same. Unlike Wortox, she’s polished with Easter eggs and beautiful animations, but even the most beautiful animations in the world can’t save a weak foundation. Wendy’s skill tree looks like the designers didn’t know what to do with it, and no one on their team had a clear vision for Wendy. So they just threw in random skills, resulting in a tree that doesn’t hold together, with some perks being completely useless. For example: Reviving butterflies is useless unless you go for Shadow Abi, which further undermines Gestalt Abi. Wraith’s Wreath is completely useless — it seems like the only time it makes sense to use it is during the first winter. And there are a few other skills, but this isn’t a discussion about Wendy. In summary, all the skill trees are unfinished, but Klei unfortunately doesn’t seem to care about properly refining them. Because they’re limiting their time, Wortox is suffering. He’s being ignored, and if Klei doesn’t get their act together, he will likely remain ignored. Crestwave Posted January 24, 2025 Share Posted January 24, 2025 Just chiming in here to mention that I actually used butterfly revival a lot as lunar Wendy to conveniently plant flowers or farm petals. I hope they don't remove the skill just because it provides more value to the shadow side, especially since planting flowers is the most Wendy thing ever (both in-game for butterfly farming and in lore). Wraith's Wreath is also my favorite skill since it provides very formidable healing (even restorative is 2x the speed of jellybeans) and a lot of fun utility options in a single skill. I keep all sorts of potions in my picnic casket and I hand out a ghastly experience/cure-all to players with health penalty; very neat since it's the only item other than a booster shot that restores it and I don't have to give up a slot for it. I've even gotten use out of the shield potions by giving them to Walter/Wormwood (Worm has excellent synergy with most of the potions since he can use them for healing and has access to cheap body armor) or chugging them to become the team's tank, although clearly they're the weakest of the bunch. Since I already have butterfly wings, why don't I just catch butterflies directly? Why waste Mourning Glory? If healing food is more convenient, why should I use healing potions? Why don't I or my teammates just use a Football Helmet to mitigate damage? Perhaps you prefer this more complex and less practical playstyle? Nah not really it's kinda funny to me that Wortox is so well done that devs didn't even metioned him in beta fix XD And blaming Klei will not do any good (At first i was kinda shocked with character choices here i mean i really like Wortox but i don't think that he need skill tree now same goes for Wanda, Maxwell but yeah it's cool Walter is eh i understand and i know he will get something good so there is nothing to be mad about he really needs some good skills Wendy is interesting every skill is different and unique unless like for Wolfgang and planar dmg skills. I'm gonna skip talking about Wendy community because....we all know right? It's great as a weapon for general use, and it's a blessing for collecting logs.
