Imbued Enigmox: Thoughts and Suggestions

I've beaten Imbued Enigmox several times solo now and I have to say it really is amazing boss fight despite being so different from the original engimox fight. The new features such as the enigmox mirages copying her attacks and the enig-mothball and enig-mossquito miniboss sections are quite fun.

However I feel like a bit of the Imbued Enigmox's fight doesn't pressure the player enough as other Imbued bosses have. (I will be giving Enigmox's attacks what I usually call them as besides "Peak-a-Boom" they don't have official names). The bulleted points are my main critiques and the opening for each section is a summary to convey my points.

Hide and Seek Pillars

This is the attack Imbued Enigmox, unlike normal Enigmox, will use throughout the fight. She will call down a large amount of pillars and hide behind one of them, and before hiding she will summon a few toxic pillars which damage the player if broken. The pillar she hides behind will glow a white light from the cracks in the pillar and she will be stunned if it is broken. If she is not found she drops a Peak-a-Boom pillar which causes a large shockwave in the arena, with more dropped as she enters into later phases.

  • The main issue with this phase is that it almost brings no challenge to find the correct pillar. Since the correct pillar always glows white with cracks in it, it only takes a second before Enigmox is found. That means being wary of breaking toxic pillars is never a problem as its clear which ones are fakes. I suggest that the fake toxic pillars are given some kinda glow to them to trick players into potentially smashing them. This could be a duller glow or a longer glow compared to the correct pillar to make the search a little more difficult. (An idea I had is when Enigmox teleports away to her pillar she could drop colored particles and the correct and fake pillars would all glow different colors, with the correct pillar glowing the color of the particles she drops)
  • Another issue is that this part feels rather empty since only two elite mothballs (one elite mothball and mossquito will spawn on final phase) will spawn on solo. While this seems good with how tough the elites are, it usually just leads to the mothballs never finding you due to elite mothballs being slower with the large arena. So potentially double the amount of elites in this attack could give it an appropriate amount of pressure needed. Also it would be fun if the Enigmox mirage could attack the player during this part of the battle when summoned.

EnigMothball and EnigMossquito Minibosses

When Enigmox reaches a certain health threshold she will laugh, disappear and drop down a pillar. The pillar will cause a Enigmox disguised as a mothball to fall upon the center of the arena along with a few elite mothballs in phase 2, the same to happen for disguised mossquito with elite mossquitos in phase 3, and in phase 4 both disguised rots will spawn with their respective elites. The EnigMothball and EnigMossquito act as minibosses and both can use the mobs regular moves along with a double teleport attack to sneak up on the player to hit them. A pillar will also constantly fall over the players head to hurt them. Also both mobs laugh at you.

  • The main problem here is how similar the two minibosses are as both share a double dash attack and are speedy, with the only difference is that enig-mothball having a melee attack. My suggestion is giving each a special move that can only be activated if their laugh is not interrupted. So this could be if the EnigMothball laughs without being interrupted it will spawn a elite mothball pile, and if the EnigMossquito laughs without interruption it will heal itself 10% and other rots around 5%. The elite rots respective to the miniboss could also spawn from the falling pillars since the miniboss fight feels a bit barren fighting one on one.
  • There is also the fact that it is always Enig-mothball, Enig-Mossquito, then both at once. It feels a bit repetitive fighting the same two minibosses again in the same order so my suggestion is to add one more Enigmox rot and randomize the order. An Enigmox Eye-V (Eyenigmox) could be added, and following my suggestion, its laughing taunt could cause it to shoot its leaves like an elite Eye-V does (Eye-V also already has a laughing taunt too). Following this two of the three Enigmox rots would be chosen randomly for the first two phases, and you would be guaranteed to fight these two for the last phase.

Spores

The Imbued Enigmox boss arena features six spores on the edge of the arena, also again featuring red and green spores with this fight adding confusion spores, these spores regrow if activated.

  • Spores are the only world gimmick in a boss fight that feels so out of the boss fight that they are just moved to the side. Imbued Enigmox also never pushes you to the side of the arena since there is plenty of space. I suggest that an additional four spores be placed among the center area of the arena. This would not only make the world's gimmick more prominent in the boss fight, but also give more risk reward by requiring better positioning during the boss fight but also allowing more healing spores to be easily obtained.

Thank you for your time in reading this.
