Decorated graves should spawn mourning glory instead of evil flowers

Recommended Posts

In my opinion, pipspook hunting is already a very efficient source of mourning glory; however, it is quite repetitive. I would like to suggest an alternate method of acquiring them which would be less powerful but more relaxing, while simultaneously solving aesthetic issues with her character.

Mourning glories are powerful gifts from the dead. Therefore, it would be very in-character for decorated graves to spawn them.

There is currently a limit for the amount of gravestone flowers that can be in an area. By keeping this limit, Wendy is encouraged to decorate graves around the world rather than gathering them all at her Bee Queen factory. She would also be encouraged to tend to them at all times rather than only caring about them when she's about to fight a boss.

This makes the ghosts an incidental mechanic that players may abuse if they are inclined to, rather than literally the only way to use the perk, solving its aesthetic issues.

The production is slow and requires upkeep of petals, so pipspook hunting would still be the most efficient way to get glory. If it is too strong, then it can be made so that glories only spawn if you decorate them with lune tree blossoms, so that the blessed Sisturn isn't a one-off synergy.

If they go down this route, I would suggest giving Wendy the ability to revive moon moths (possibly for a higher cost) to complete the lune tree synergy. This would also define that her intent in revival is to give beings a new life (if Abi or a catcoon kills the moth while you're chopping trees, you can revive and plant it) as she tried to do with Abi herself. As with earlier, the shadow murder synergy then becomes a mechanic the player can possibly use rather than the main point of the revival perk.
