Wraithe's Wreathe.

Recommended Posts

After having a bunch of hours on Wendy with the new skill tree, I've garnered some new takes and opinions on some things...

Specifically the Wraithe's Wreathe.

At first I thought it was cool how you required a head slot item to consume the elixirs as a player; it changed combat due to having to use body slot armour for healing or body slot gear for summer/winter... However.

This turned out to be more clunky, unintuitive, awkward and tedious than it did fun or interesting.

I've also noticed that a lot of people don't even want to bother with most of the elixirs because it requires a head slot item that has no good stats just to consume either very niche or genuinely amazing elixirs.

So at this point, I just suggest making elixirs consumables. like drag the elixir onto your character and that's it.

I completely agree to give up the Ghost Headcrown, even though it's beautiful. May I ask why the Flower Shroud was removed?

Simple answer: They couldn't balance it
Longer answer:The devs were not happy with how the Shroud turned out. The first iteration allowed Wendy to face tank bosses without Armor because Abigail would just tank the damage. This meant that she could just resummon Abigail during fights and tank without consequences (which is partly true, mainly because the only good example of this is with Dragonfly). It also allowed you to tank freezing, starving, overheating, or burning damage due to Abby. They wanted to rework it to where Abigail used your head slot armor when you wore it, however they also felt that sacrificing your head armor for a bulkier Abby was not the play, so they removed it.

I think the main problem with the wreath is the fact that the effects it provides pale in comparison to items already in the game. Potion that caused you to tank a certain amount of damage one time or do thorn damage one time? Why use it when you could use Football helmets and Abby exits. Potion that reduces the speed penalty of items? Why use it when Beefalo exits. Marble Armor is a good reason, but you're most likely only using it for BQ and you're better off using Bee Keeper hats to expand the suit's lifespan. A potion that recovers sanity and hunger? This one is the most baffling, as cactus exists. The only real stand outs are Nightshade and the healing potions, although you could make an argument for the potions since Wendy's will likely rush BQ for jellybeans. And, to top it all off, it makes you wonder why would you ever waste your head slot item when you could wear armor with it and a backpack as well. The answer is there is no reason. The sad reality is that the head slot is the most valuable slot to most players and they don't want to give up that slot. I do think the charm of the wreath comes from the fun elixirs you can use with it, but that's really all it is.

It also doesn't help that you need to drag the potions onto the crown in order to drink the potions. It makes them feel very clunky and unappealing.

I personally am not a fan of making it so that Abby can use two elixirs at a time, but the Wraith's Wreath needs that ngl

Also the effects need to stay on the Wreath even if you take it off but make it pause

Effects like healing should immediately pause by themselves if you're at max health. Vigor mortis if there's nothing lowering your speed, etc.

Also some effects should be buffed/changed.

Vigor Mortis > speed penalties removed completely instead of 25% of an item. Or let it be so that it improves speed boosts. Roads, mags, canes, whatever. Doesn't give one on its own, but improves already present ones.

Shield elixirs need something. That isn't just damage reduction/true damage reduction.

Wetness nullification. Fire/Ice immunity. Something where they make durability damage on armor very low, as to actually make vigor mortis useful with marble armor if you can apply both at the same time.

Healling elixirs should work faster. Make restorative the speed of cure-all, with cure-all being basically restorative with 40 more health. Make cure-all useless for Wendy, but good when making it for other survivors. So cure-all isn't so dominanting

I have no idea what to suggest. But it kinda feels bad to just use cure-all and nightshade in 90% of situations. None of the others help in fight, aside from vigor mortis + marble armor helping with knockback.

Thank you for your answer
So here's the thing:
① The shroud will turn Wendy's battle into a single player game
② The way to bring Abigail back to the battlefield by sharing her helmet ultimately failed
So as long as we find another way for Abigail to survive in front of the boss, the shroud will be reused
I have a plan:
Give more meaning to the shroud, making it possible to simultaneously operate Abigail and Wendy to evade attacks
① The shroud made Wendy look more like a ghost, allowing her to perceive Abigail more clearly
② Team spirit will provide new skills: Abigail and Wendy can exchange positions and gain temporary damage immunity through disappearance and reappearance

I don't understand the problems with wendy's new hat tbh

To me it looks like a cheaper and better miner's hat that comes with sanity regeneration and sometimes can give you cheap heals if you need it, I use it like that and I'm very happy with it.
Alltho I agree that having to drag the elixirs to the hat is annoying

I think if it completely ditches combat applications it'll be good. The wreath having many mid tier effects is a great concept, but by trying to make 1/2 of them combat orientated, their limited power makes them outclassed by even a football helmet.

If the two shields become utility effects it'll have a bunch of different effects with minimal cost, making it a much more useful item.

I feel like honestly, the hat should just have a separate stat of its own, and the elixirs should just be consumables like any other.

Since Wendy's right click on the elixirs already applies them to Abigail, you could have her have to drag the elixir onto herself to drink it.

But the hat as it is right now is just very impractical and inconvenient for what it's worth.
