HokahokaPancake
* Why do we need two branches? When reading the forum posts, I can see that many players want a thrilling experience with Walter. Many veteran Walter players have proven that, so I think that way of playing is definitely Walter's charm. I also watched Tarnishedmax's video, and his thrilling play style was cool. However, I want to tell you that Walter's safe play is also nice, not just Walter's thrilling play. I am a Walter main, but I enjoy a life where I hardly fight while playing Walter. Because there are many mobs in DST that will fight for Walter. However, it takes a lot of knowledge to execute it and many days to get results. It may not suit players who want quick results with thrilling play, but I think that DST beginners or Walter beginners don't know this method even if they want to try it. It's a lot of fun to provide support fire while cheering on the mobs that fight for Walter, so this is definitely Walter's charm. (Because it's fun to have your companions fight while playing as Webber, Wurt, or Willow!) What Walter's skill tree needs is rewards for experienced battle Walter players who play thrillingly, and safe guidance for beginner Walter players. These are contradictory in terms of danger, safety, merit, and demerit, so they cannot be received at the same time. So I propose that Walter's skill tree be divided into an "adventure (thrilling)" branch and a "Friends (safety)" branch. I'm not an expert on the "adventure (thrilling)" branch. However, I think that there are many excellent people who talk about thrilling play in other topics. Also, I think that the slingshot skill tree implemented by KLei is more "adventure (thrilling)"-oriented rewards. Because the rewards are not obtained just by assigning insight, but by going to dangerous places and defeating dangerous mobs. So I will mainly post my opinions on the "Friends (safety)" branch. *About the disadvantages of playing safely In thrilling play, you can receive rewards faster, but you have to play dangerously. On the other hand, the disadvantage of playing safely is that you can get rewards by taking time. Considering that it takes a certain amount of time for Webber and Wurt to gather allies and become stronger, I think this is the right balance. *About Slow Rounds It is difficult for me, a beginner in combat, to fight while switching ammunition without a surasite frame. In particular, I felt that the slow effect time of the honey round was too short, and I couldn't say that I was fighting very safely. I play the beta version on PC, but I usually play DST on Nintendo switch. I think it is a bit difficult to fight while switching ammunition every few seconds on the console version. Considering that you have to explore dangerous caves to get surasite frames and challenge dangerous areas and bosses to get more effective slow rounds, slow rounds are tough for beginners. I think it's safer to continue as before and use SlingShot to cover while being protected by Beefalo and Rock Lobster, and this method doesn't require Slow Rounds. (In end content, these companions will no longer work, so you will need to have Armored Bearger, Dragonfly, Toadstool, etc. on your side.) I think slow rounds should be assigned to the "Adventure (Thrilling)" branch, or adjusted to make them easier for beginners to use. *Skill suggestions for the "Friends (Safety)" branch [Pigs and rabbits wearing Pinetree Pioneer Hats become Walter's followers] For DST beginners, the vegetables and meat used to turn pigs and rabbits into followers are very expensive. Walter has the Pinetree Pioneer Hat from the beginning, and if the pig or rabbit wearing it dies, you can pick up the hat and reuse it. [Poop Round puts Beefalo into heat] Woby is a Chester that can store multiple Beefalo Bells and is not attacked by Beefalo in heat. Only Walter who is carrying Woby has the ability to lead a pack of rutting Beefalo. If you can make Beefalo rut at any time, the convenience of the Beefalo army will increase. [Recovery Ointment Rounds] If you have recovery ointment rounds that heal mobs that fight for Walter, Walter will be busy managing the mob's health even if he does not actively participate in the battle. You can fight like a support hero in Overwatch or Roland in Borderlands. [Beefalo training and saddle skills] It is dangerous for a beginner Walter to ride Big Woby. However, everyone knows that Big Woby is excellent at speed runs. Therefore, it is better to assign Big Woby's benefits to the "Adventure (Challenge)" branch. Instead, let's get Wigfrid's Beefalo skill for the "Friends (Safety)" branch. (As discussed in other topics, Wigfrid needs a different skill that is suitable for her) Feathers, the material for the saddle that can be made with Wigfrid's skill, can be obtained more easily with Walter. The saddle makes the Beefalo a safer ride. (When Wigfrid's Beefalo skill was implemented, I was happy as a Walter player. I changed to Wigfrid for a few minutes at the Moon Gate and made a saddle.) Only Walter benefits from domesticating multiple Beefalos. Because you can carry and maintain multiple domesticated Beefalos by storing Beefalo Bells in Woby. The strategy of riding multiple domesticated Beefalos in boss battles is quite strong. In exchange for the long time it takes to raise Beefalo, you can get armor with 100% resistance, which is perfect for the "Friends (Safety)" branch. [Woby Training] The effect of Woby Training is too slow to be a perk for the "Adventure (Thrilling)" branch. So I'll make it a "Friends (Safety)" branch skill that will justify the time it takes. The Digging skill allows Walter to get valuable items without risking himself. The Fetch skill needs to be adjusted. It would be nice if he could pick up grass and branches that are growing. By collecting grass and branches, it will help raise Beefalo. As for Big Woby, I think it would be better to assign it to the "Adventure (Thrilling)" skill in a way other than training. [Giant Woby] We will prepare a third form of Woby as a reskin for Bearger. This idea proposed by Well-met was very great, so I would like to further refine it. I couldn't think of a good name, but I will call it "Giant Woby" for now. To become Giant Woby, you need to get all Woby training to 100%, and it will change from Big Woby by giving it 10 monster meets. I think it would be ideal to make it take about 100 days to get all training to 100%. Because the perks that are worth the effort are more powerful, and taking time to do so is a disadvantage to safe perks. Giant Woby is a perk that takes 100 days to obtain, so I think it's fine for it to be stronger than the boss that you should be able to defeat on the 100th day. However, in my opinion, it should be about as strong as Bearger. Because I want to give it room to be supported by the aforementioned recovery rounds. Giant Woby can move almost the same as Bearger, and I think it will be useful for breaking trees and rocks. The cost of 10 monster meat is not high, but it's not cheap either, so I think you can use Bearger on the ground and Giant Woby underground or on other islands. (Armored Bearger is a cost-effective companion) Also, when Giant Woby is unlocked, the Giant Woby training item will be added to the Woby training station. This will allow you to strengthen Giant Woby for even more difficult problems. Also, as an idea, I think it would be good for Giant Woby to become indiscriminate and become hostile towards Walter. Walter is good at making hostile mobs fight each other because he can make them follow him with his sling shot. The process of making hostile mobs fight each other is always fun for me. *Skill suggestions for the "Adventure (Thrilling)" branch I may not be able to give a good opinion on the perks of the thrilling play style, which I am not familiar with, but I will list some ideas that I thought were good in other topics. [Shotgun frame] This is a sling shot frame that can fire multiple balls at once. Since it is fired at a wide angle, the closer you shoot to the enemy, the more rounds will hit, and you can expect high firepower. [Big Woby can swim] This allows you to search for islands faster and head to dangerous areas at an early stage. [Big Woby can jump over the other side if it is close] This allows you to explore the ground and explore caves quickly. It's necessary for a playstyle that requires a rush for results. [ Saddle for Big Woby] Equipping Big Woby with a saddle allows him to swim and jump to the other side. This is one example of a plan for Big Woby to receive benefits without Woby training.
