6Havok9
Hello dupes and dupettes, I'm going for an all achievements max difficulty run on a Ceres spaced out cluster, possibly trying to use bionics from the start. I'm encountering some difficulties with bionic dupes. I'm burning through the very limited amounts of starting cinnabar ore, way too fast. The lack of carbon dioxide doesn't help with alveo veras. Even if I beeline for eco power banks, I don't think I can reach the geothermal heat pump in time and tame at least one geovent before everything comes crumbling down. I've tried some different starting dupe setups, including Freya, but I had to give up: I felt like the end was nigh, inevitable, and I don't want to escape to the teleport planet. Before I try again, I'd like to know if someone did manage to get past these initial hurdles on this particular cluster. I think I'm doing something wrong.. maybe I should delay bionics (or regular dupes) for a bit, I just can't find a way to keep both groups alive and functional in the early cycles, with their crazy consumption rates! oxymoron86
I have been playing (and failing) this exact setup for 5 times, the 6th time I got it right and finally enter mid game. I can share some of my painful experience I go for 1 digging bionic and 2 normal, one rancher one researcher. I find that 2 or more bionic dupe without stable source of power due to super sustainable slow down the development too much it choke the colony (literally, the o2 production setup cannot go online fast enough) After initial stabilization, the usual latrine is done, you need to start digging for co2 vent and start alveo vera farm. The vent will be your lifeline, since bionic dont create co2 and you cant use wood burner. In the mean time kill some seal on the way and bammoth to create pemican to help with the carnivore. This involves some luck, you have some time before your colony suffocate and you need to find the vent before that, pump it to the alveo vera farm. As you dig, more oxylite will reveal, extending your deadline. After the vent is discovered, next prio is power, you can get 1 more bionic dupe, bringing the total to 2 but not more before you move on from hamster wheel. I have gone through every options for super sustainable in my 5 deaths and none work except for spom. As you dig, you will slowly open the space biome. If you are lucky and found the piss water vent pumping 30 degree polluted water, you are golden, setup a spom near there and burn the hydrogen, o2 go straight to space since it will cook your base and alveo vera farm is enough for now. If you cannot find the vent, the second best option is to use ice liquidfier to supply the spom with water. This will be your powerline until you get either more spom or the geo pump. You can bring in more bionic now, but you might need them to sleep more so you have enough chips to tune the hydrogen gen. This is where I am at. 10 dubes, 4 of which bionic. Semi automate base with shipping systems. Alveo vera farm at the bottom and a spom near the top with some tiny plastic production from wild bonbon. I am preparing to create my first steel, then mid game start from there Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162825-max-difficulty-ceres-so-and-bionics/#findComment-1782530 Share on other sites

I've been working on a full achievement run on the radioactive ocean and... well the early game is a nightmare as there's litterally 10 days worth of oxygen. Carnivor also being a huge pain in the ass, at least Ceres has enough bammoth to easily do that. However indeed, energy seems to be the tricky part here. I got tons of uranium.. you got... well a spom? I guess you can run tons of spoms. At least Ceres can rush plastic very easily. I run 4, 5 dupes, 2 of them are bionic, until the alveo vera farm get co2 from the vent, then I grow them to 6, 7, but only 2 of them are bionic still. Get spom online, then I can take in more bionic afterwards. Im surprised how much power a half spom pump out, 1.2kw each tuned hydrogen generator and 3 can run constantly with the 4 occasionally run as well. Spom is of course just a temporary solution, the main power on ceres is from the geo thermal pump Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162825-max-difficulty-ceres-so-and-bionics/#findComment-1783597 Share on other sites
KittenIsAGeek
I'm currently playing a Ceres Spaced-Out, but I went with the larger starting planetoid rather than full cluster. One advantage is that due east of my starting point was a radioactive biome with Saturn Critter Traps on the same level with hives. I was running on hydrogen before cycle 20. I had oxygen issues for a while. Mostly because I wasn't producing enough CO2 to feed alveo vera plants. I tried a bottle drainer feeding directly to an electrolyzer, which worked OK for a bit but quickly needed hydrogen management. There were also a number of broken pipes. My solution, around cycle 75, was to create a pool with a tepidizer set to 60f under a SPOM. Since energy wasn't an issue, excess hydrogen is just re-routed into my buffer for my power supply. I'm still running 4 dupes, 3 regular and 1 Bionic on cycle 24. The printing pod saved me by offering a medical care chip, so my bionic could make gear balm. Then it extended the deadline again by offering pemmican. Then I found one bammoth.. apparently confined, because it spawned overlapping a neutronium tile. It would have been a disaster without those care packages. Then I found two hot po2 vents, a salt water geyser and a hot stream vent, which is not awesome in a primitive frozen environment. Oh, and a volcano. A screen away from the printing pod. Small starting planetoid + bionics + misaligned printing pod seems quite unforgiving, but maybe this time I'll make it.
