asphire
I've started to host a DST server and I can see it up and running and join it LAN. However it doesn't show up on the server listing. I've looked for port forwarding guides but I often get the answer that I don't need to port forward which I'm quite confused. Any clue or advice are appreciated. Daniel86268
1. You don't need to port forward for DST Servers, but it is recommended. Server listing, players joining, etc. works without it, but the server listing will show ??? as ping, and I'm quite certain players have a little less latency/lag with port forwarding enabled, since the DST server doesn't have to use steamnetworking (I think that was the workaround protocol, not entirely sure) to work around players not being able to connect directly. 2. Check if either your firewall is blocking port 10998, or if another program is already listening on said port, as the DST server seems to see that port as blocked/occupied. Otherwise you can try running the DST server on a different port, and see if that works, since some systems and/or firewalls seem to have certain ports pre-occupied.
