Jakepeng99
My favourite arc was the return of them arc. It filled out the world and added cool content. What i liked most this year was the marotters and rabbit king. Those two features changed the game alot for me in small ways, i adore them. The rabbit king is a cool goal for me that is not tied to some character exclusive skill or something, its something i can do as any character. It has so many cool mechanics and rewards to play around with, and a boss battle that is like a puzzle (my favourite kind) where instead of raw kiting vs a boss, you need to find tools or creative solutions to try deal with it (or, get friends). It invokes that feeling of being a noob who cant kite deerclops, so you save treeguards to try and kill it. The otters are amazing. The atmosphere is incredible, they make the ocean feel like the old ds. They are a threat to you... and all your enemies. Rowing a marotter den to a salt deposit to farm cookie cutters is just so awesome to pull off. Their dens also provide useful loot. I cant explain how good they are, they demonstrate why Klei should focus on adding features like this. I also like the junkyard, and ocean mechanics reworks alot. Meanwhile, while the skilltrees are ok, it only affects the game for one character (Plus all that powercreep stuff, personally im starting to try out Wilson to see what it is like without the new kind of characters). It makes this year feel less substantial. I do like customising my character, but should DST be focused on using your character's tools, or the world's tools? This is a question i have been wondering myself lately, and wondering if it matters. Riff content: I really like the shadow riffs. Their features are all perfect (besides the equipment which i will discuss). New survival threats, and enemies which are puzzles to fight. The shadow side always has the best art, and most well designed enemies. I love the shadow shark in the ruins (its pre riff too!), and i love the ickers who add use and fear to the caves. In terms of the lunar riffs, eh. I like the bosses they are fun, but i like the shadows side take much more. While i like what they added in riffs and can enjoy it, i actually really dislike the riff concept itself. I dislike how you have to go on a big quest to enable them every time. I dislike how it powercreeps pretty much every armour and weapon in the game, limiting your options. I dislike it in general, alot. They already started them though, so i cant complain much. I wish for them to revise the gear and planar mechanic to not powercreep everything and limit us too much. At this point in the games progression, you have already conquered survival, and are just running around in a big arena looking for stuff to fight, waiting for stuff to happen, waiting for bosses to spawn. I believe riff content isnt that exciting, and more resources should be put elsewhere. It was originally meant to be a few updates. What I want The Most Updates to the caves and ocean. Updates to the existing biomes like the savana and mushtree biomes to make them more interesting. Cool little details like bird nests in trees (with uses). More atmosphere and world building, creatures like the marrotter that interact so much. More survival content, like stealing eggs from birds in trees, or navigating a dangerous biome. What do you think of this year? gaymime
my sole complaint isn't actually anything klei could have prevented so i'mma be a pillock and just say "that whole thing!" i was so pleased with the stuff we got this year i actually came back to the forums after nearly two years away which is about as much of a ringing endorsement as i can give. the rift stuff and before walter the skilltrees were not for me but i still think they have merit and do in fact add something more to the world that players can tangibly feel so i can't really be against either of them and like you i adore the rabbit king(and the rabbit hat, heeeck, i adore the rabbit hat the more than any other single loot reward we got) and the marotters really do make me feel like i have to rethink a bunch of small things about how i play the game when water is involved. i love the dragon boat designs(especially the oar!), the rosebushel fern skin is the best fern skin so far, i love the straw wall skin, i love the rose walking cane, i adore almost all of the pirate skins(especially my boi wes and that punk maxwell), i am in awe of all of the staying afloat skins( look at how cool these are! https://cdn.forums.klei.com/monthly_2024_06/afloatchests.png.664a415c2863ee73dfbf33767e8a63a4.png ) after five million years we finally got a moondial skin and it is a beautiful match for the endo firepit, we got the bearger succulent which is just precious, we got so so soooo many wonderful new animations and several cool vignettes and of course we got two new seasonal event things in the pumpkin carving and snowman building minigames! i know a lot of people who enjoy fighting were super disappointed this year but as someone who just wants more interaction with the world and it's beauty i feel like i have been heaped up past my head in wonderful gifts. i almost feel like tearing up thinking about how much stuff was made for people like me who just find pleasure and comfort in playing the game on its terms<3<3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162814-year-review-for-dst-and-suggestion-for-next-year-more-survival-and-non-boss-and-character-revamps/#findComment-1782465 Share on other sites
Mike23Ua
Honestly I personally think Klei is trying way too hard to tip toe around megabasers to ever release meaningful world content updates for survival. Why can players force rifts to open where they want them to open? Why instead of expanding deeply on Lunar Hail damaging mobs in the game world did Klei instead just opt to make it unrealistically only damage the player knocking my health down to critically low levels with each glass shard that bonks off my head meanwhile Rabbits and Birds stand around in it unaffected? What SHOULD be happening here is that storm provokes new “behaviors” in the game world and it’s mobs. Perhaps instead of just killing birds for free meats and loots shards can land in them and mutate them into a new type of mob? (like Lego fortnite has the powered up storm fusion mobs now) DSTs lunar hail is a sad joke… and it makes me incredibly Un-hopeful, for any and all future weather effects/global survival challenge type stuff. Swiyss
I just want a colder winter that requires insulation clothing to explore deeper areas (like the caves). We have so many body items becoming useless because of how overpowered is having a backpack in current gameplay. Till this day players are evolving their krampus sack farms and items like the rain coat are just a joke. A new player might think it's a great item while unknowingly being inefficient and wasting their time lol. Maybe what we really need are harder environment threats and new ones. LitulLola
I've said it a few times and it's prob never going to happen but here we go: I want seasons to have 3 or 4 different varieties per season each with unique mobs and plants/environment with scaling difficulty. Make it roll at the start of each season and every year can be different! I want gorge cooking and all it's mechanics, I want the ability to burn food and cook with different stations in different ways! Oh yea wheat! New mobs and plants for each biome! Maybe a new one and more life in the ocean! And please for our holiday skins give us item skins so our whole base will decorated instead of just 3 things. My big want is a spiderweb tent modeled after the frondly tent with a couple hanging decorative spinders. Same for Xmas with a pine bow tent modeled after the fondly tent with a few short light strings hanging down. More base decorations in general, the best pack was the bountiful chest! Lastly have Klei feature some of the community's skin's by having a free chest once a year full of a handful of the community's skins that they liked/picked!
