A compromise idea for player Tag change - To make general Abi become one valid option with Sisturn extension.

As there's many concern and argument about player tag, which seems all combined with ghastly elixirs, shadow/lunar affinities, etc. (Which means people are worrying about balance issue because many factors work at the same time would be OP, but not only worrying about "player tag" itself) I personally have a compromise idea.

Let us move the "player tag" as a basis mechanic for general Abi, which for QoL sake and for casual players (who is hardly to achieve affinities line).

The "player tag" would simply lose it's effect when Abi active her Shadow or Lunar form.

 

More detailed for this idea - 

Expand sisturn uses and effects:

When decorated with all general petals - give "player tag" for general Abi, would does no effect to Shadow/Lunar form Abi.

When decorated with lunar petals - give more planar damage reduction for Lunar Abi. (Only for Lunar form)

When decorated with dark petals - give extra +5 second duration of "Shadow" form for each murdering. (Only for Shadow form)

 

This would let players to choose what their playstyle would be, which the choose part is more like some concept of Wortox skill tree.

And this would appease the worrying about "player tag" becoming OP when it work with Lunar or Shadow Abi together. "player tag" only work for normal Abi now.

If you want more for DPS,

you have to choose Shadow Abi, you have to try to learn how to kite her perfectly for an extremely high DPS result.

If you want more for anti-planar mobs,

you have to choose Lunar Abi, you have lose some DPS and generally survive for normal mobs.

If you want more for generally survive,

you have to abandon both special effect from lunar or shadow Abi. You have to played as a pre-skill tree style for more general survival and convinience.

And ofc you could mix them as your personal build for more specific scenarios,

you may decorate the sisturn with general petals for "player tag" when fighting lunar deerclop with general Abi, when lunar deerclop goes down into the weak phases, you murdered something to active Shadow form for Abi and dealt extremely high DPS in that safe period.

 

 

I'm not sure this Idea would satisfied most people or not.

My personally interest is to make "player tag" become a more normally settings rather than current stage.

Also I prefer to keep general Abi form as a playstyle option for post-skill tree, because some of us have no interest in Lunar Abi, and at the same time we think "murder from inventory" is inconvenient for daily use. We may prefer to save those affinities points for other QoL skills.

For the last point, to make all type petals have special effect for sisturn decoration would be more fun.

Abi needs to improve the survival rate. If he doesn't like it, he can put other flowers in it. There's no need to do this.

This is an open choice. It's good enough not to force anyone.

This sounds another reasonable solution for current balance worrying - Though I don't think current skill tree would make Wendy become OP for most average player base tbh. 

Just want to improve the skill tree for more builds and fun

 

Big fan of the idea all around.  Making it not apply to affinity forms is a cool fix and a great way to balance the early game a bit, and I really like making an upside for normal Abigail and having a viable reason to choose all 3 forms.  Shadow Abigail just being better normal Abigail has always been a bit sad.

Been looking at this more and really think it is well thought out and a cool way to make the current design fun for all players.  It solves Shadow Abigail's super high damage without a tradeoff by making her easier to kill, solves the powerful affinity forms comboing with the player tag, and adds fun new powers, options, choices, and play styles in return.  The only weird thing that I can still see remaining if this was implemented is insta-full health level 3 ghastly elixir being problematic, but that is its own issue.

Want a tanky but low damage Abigail? Choose normal Abigail, who is now actually worth choosing, especially for people that are sad that she is hard to keep alive but really just want simple old Abigail with her AOE to not die so easily


Want Abigail to kite bosses and stay alive at all costs in long boss fights? Choose Gestalt Abigail with a fun new boon too


Want glass cannon Abigail and think you can manage less survivability for some extreme damage? Choose Shadow Abigail with a fun new boon too

Much appreciated for your supporting! I hope this thread could get more reading in these days. Not sure if our devs are still working or not ...

I don't know if this makes the average Abi seem too powerful, especially when compared to Gestalt. Maybe Gestalt needs a powerful augmentation, if she really doesn't have the player tag

I do agree with you, current lunar Abi is broken and need far more adjustments. but I have no detailed idea about how to adjust/rework her.
