What do the community actually want

With the latest patch I see many people are unhappy with the Wendy play tag change and I’m confused into why?because before said update everyone said Abigail need more surivealbity and giving Abigail a player tag will fix that.also I’m pretty sure someone straight up said this exact idea for  lunar blossoms.now that they have it everyone switched up and says they dislike it and I’m confused as to why this changes in demeanor has occurred

Someone proved it makes her somewhere between 5 times more durable, to basically immortal depending on the boss.

your ideas of "people" and "everyone" are flawed. You have to pay more attention to understand which side the opinions come from.

If you read the forums at all there are 2 main camps on Wendy right now. People who calls for ways to make Abigail even tankier and give Wendy even MORE perks, and people who are already satisfied and that the tree just need number tweaks. It's not that hard to understand the situation if you read all the forum post from both side.

It's because people aren't a hivemind. People's desires for Wendy's skill tree are a spectrum. 

This spectrum ranges between Wendy being nerfed into the ground (making her worse than Wilson) and Wendy being able to let Abigail completely handle fights for her without input. 

Most players want Wendy to be somewhere in-between (which is what she's at right now and I hope the devs mostly keep her that way, although maybe the command skills could be made quicker to do in-combat). 

I can only speak for myself, but the only thing I want out of Wendy's skill tree is for Abigail to have more survivability that is not reliant on elixirs.

To that end, the skills that affect survivability:

  • Team spirit skills are pretty cool, not a huge fan of the global cooldown but I won't complain as long as it's not the only non-elixir-related survivability buff Abby gets.
  • Love Blessed Sisturn in its current state. HATED Blessed sisturn in its previous state where you had to park Abby each time you wanted the health. Would not mind if the elixir interaction is nerfed, but I do not want the buff to be nerfed when elixirs aren't used.

And the rest of them:

  • I don't care about shadow Abigail's damage on beefalo, I thought the 1.54x mod from beefalo before skill trees was fine enough. The damage mod it gives to non-beefalo users is extremely similar to this value at 1.56x. I would not mind if cursed vexation added back the 0.75x mod from Wendy while on beefalo. I would mind if the 0.75x mod was added back when not using cursed vexation.
  • I would not use gestalt Abigail since AoE is the main thing I'd want Abby for. It's fine as an option.
  • I don't care about the elixir or the grave skills because ideally I don't want to do the pipspook quests in the first place (yes I understand they make it easier and more efficient, I am saying it is not an enjoyable process. It feels arbitrary and if I can avoid it, I will. This is the whole reason why I do not want to be reliant on elixirs.)
  • Butterfly / wraith wreath / revive station / vengeful ghost: They exist, I suppose. The first two have some potential but I'm not particularly excited about any of them. That's fine.

The problem is how it works in practice currently. If you use a spectral cure-all she can heal practically all the damage a boss does before getting hit again. That's a dramatic change in survivability and simply too much for a skill. They need to give it some balance tweaks to make it a reasonable effect

Every decision of klei indirectly affects all future updates. If you work on wendy for another half a year then it's another half a year of not having better biomes.

It is a different group of people talking previously vs now.  Originally, I did not comment on threads asking for overpowered Wendy buffs since I didn't think commenting negative things about people's thoughts was necessary or useful or a worthwhile use of time.  I had confidence the skill tree developers would recognize an appropriate power level and disregard or balance people's suggestions appropriately.  The people you were seeing agreeing with each other on all the buffs were an echo chamber of a very specific type of player.

Now more people that stayed silent, probably like me, are speaking up since it has become clear that the design has missed the mark in terms of balance and fun for everyone in the game, and gotten a bit distracted by the echo chamber threads, making our voices necessary.

Examples of this include previously thinking that Shadow Abigail planar damage addition would have been accompanied by an early game power reduction, that the tier 3 Abigail potion insta heal would be corrected, or that the player tag if added would come with appropriate drawbacks. 

It is clear at this point that reading and ignoring the threads asking for egregious buffs has only resulted in a massively overpowered and unfun character, and that this is the last patch to stop that.

The skill of adding player tags is inspired by suggestions from the forum. If anyone wants to nerf this skill, then those people should also provide suggestions on how to make this skill more interesting while reducing Abigail's survivability.

Defeat suggestions with suggestions, not by opposing them.Otherwise, this would be a double disrespect to both the developers who adopt the suggestions and the people who propose them

People want all the characters to be balanced.  This beta is for Wendy, so they are asking for Wendy to be balanced well.  I'm not sure what the question is here.

There are other roles in this beta. I didn't see your balance suggestions for other characters.

If you want my personal opinion locking it behind pure brilliance seems like the best option since Abigail is already perfectly fine for pre rift content.

On the Lunar side since it's supposed to be the durability route.

You can check my post history if you want.  I have replied to comments asking for skills for other characters in this beta saying that it would unbalanced the character and to not add it.  This is not correct.  I would like Wortox and Walter to be balanced as well.

Ok so how’s would this suggestion be in alternative instead of a full player tag Abigail gets 25% protection with the skill and her natural ghost glow gets brighter significantly.

Sure? You can start a thread about this suggestion right now. I'm not the only one discussing it; as long as you have suggestions, you can join the conversation.

The last time Klei left major design decision up to "the community" they ended up removing all of Wolfgang's downsides, turning him into nothing more than a boring Wilson clone.

They should consider the arguments that the community makes. They shouldn't let the community design a character for them based on simple popular vote.

I understand you, just like DS is already perfect and doesn't need any updates
