First off, bionic duplicants go to the bathroom a LOT less frequently, and I don't even know if they cleanse rads when they use a gunk extractor. This causes levels of radiation considered negligible to easily build up on bionic duplicants, causing a constant Radiation Level warning to appear on the side of the screen and refuse to go away until you've given them rad pills and it's really getting on my nerves. The second part is that the downsides of radiation sickness don't really seem to matter. Minor radiation sickness has absolutely no effect on them, and they don't seem to lose anything from vomiting (they produce a bit of gunk, but their gear oil & gunk levels don't go down) so the only effect of Major radiation sickness is the -4 athletics. Through my 300 cycles of gameplay so far, I've noticed a pattern where my dupes will continue building up radiation until they get major radiation sickness and vomit themselves back to wellness. At first I tried to use basic rad pills to combat it, but this proved a lot of work across multiple planetoids for something where the worst possible outcome was just a dupe briefly running around with a soiled atmo suit. The basic rad pill also isn't strong enough to help my one dupe who's responsible for farming mutant plants near a crashed satellite (in a lead suit, of course). It would be nice if this were to be addressed. Since bionic duplicants are partially metallic, I think it would be reasonable to give them a significant amount of resistance to passive radiation. Maybe a new booster that grants a bionic duplicant radiation resistance (or even the Radiation Eater trait) would be effective for duplicants that spend a lot of time near radiation and have neat synergy with Nuclear Power Banks and Dura Power Banks at the cost of one or more booster slots. Primalflower Posted December 8, 2024 Share Posted December 8, 2024 Idk, I think it's fun in a weird way, as in the general concept should stay, given how they are immune to all other forms of illness, the fact that they are extra susceptible to this particular form of illness, i think is kind of fun. I do think that there maybe aren't enough ways to deal with it, though. I wish you could set some kind of threshold with which the duplicant will then take rad pills, because I think it's sad to have to block off bionics from space, basically.
