How to edit existing save file difficuty settings

Hi all,

I'd like to start a new game without the bionics DLC and enable the DLC when it officially comes out. The only thing holding me back at the moment is that I don't know if/how I'll be able to increase the wattage difficulty settings once the DLC launches, if I already have an existing save file.

Is there a simple way to do that?

I have been searching a bit and some of the tools I could find are very old and I do not dare use them.

Been searching a bit more and of course someone has done that before, so I found this mod literally called "modify difficulty settings" that seems to have been updated recently. I will give it a try when the DLC comes out and the mod gets hopefully updated . See original post below.

@SGT_Imalas will the save file require the mod to run after the settings have been changed, or can I use it as a one time thing, disable it, and not fear having to wait for it to be updated at every game update?
