Woby's Digging Badge

Woby's digging badge is undoubtedly the most uninteresting and boring part of Woby's training kit. With that said, that's probably due to the nature of the ability itself, being an event that periodically has a chance to generate a rare piece of loot that requires no interaction with the player.

This perk in itself is okay, but what it could use is player interaction, a way for the player to directly work on training Woby in it. Perhaps having it instead be a small minigame similar to Wendy's pipspook quests, or something else entirely.

Another idea to make this badge useful is to keep the non-interactive passive effect, but to also have Woby dig up other things too, like tree stumps and graves on a timer. This would make Woby effectively a permanent shovel by Walter's side.

 

I believe this badge needs a little bit of improvement more then the rest of his badges, so if anyone else has any good ideas what to do with it, chime in.

haha fair enough, but it's not like it produces a ton of gems, y'know? It doesn't even work when he's big, and I'm a bit of a ditsy so a lot of the times I won't even know he dug something up and leave it behind lol. But really though it's not like I have a problem with the idea of it, It's just when trying to test it out, it felt like I was waiting for a long time just for him to find nothing, but yeah passive free gem income.

The odds of getting a gem is pretty low and even then it requires you to not use Woby for anything but storage or fetching which also pretty bad. Personally I kinda wish it was replaced but people like it...

I agree that maybe a minigame would have felt funnier, but I think it would be way harder to balance. Because lets say the minigame is about searching hints on the floor and kind of like Wendy's, that would take time, it would also require a cd between, and the moment the Walter player gets tired of doing the minigame you wont get more loot. And thats not even considering the loot table, for Wendy or Winona its a consistent loot, but for Woby if you were to always get gems, thulecite, panflutes, or good **** like that, the minigame would be way too op, but in the opposite if you were to do the minigame for like 10 times in a row and only get some flint it would be boring af.

So even tho I agree the current "gambling Woby" feels more dull and boring, atleast its passive free stuff and if you are lucky the perk pays off easily, you can even get some really good loot like, a panflute on the first days, free gems in a row, or a mctusk tusk for free on the first winter.
