The current version of Abby, and I'm talking about the moon(gestalt) version of her, she dazes in place for a second after attacking before continuing to dodge. I looked through SGabigail.lua and I noticed that you guys have added a new state called "gestalt_rest", and it's this state that puts Abby in a dazed state for 1 second while fighting. What kind of feeling does this give me? It's that you go through your unit tests, find a bug in your design, and then your solution is to just change the value of the variable to make it pass the unit tests. Or you find a bug in a module of your program, and instead of debugging it, you choose to comment out the whole module and add some print statements telling everyone, "Hey, I found a bug in this piece of code eh, so everyone just don't use it lol" The regular Abby was very weak in the boss fight, so you added the moon version. It's true that the last version of moon Abby was so strong that she could take on Deerclops and Bearers on her own. It really doesn't make much sense, and I agree that a player's NPC shouldn't be able to take out bosses on her own and let the player sit back and enjoy the ride. I have to say you guys have better ways of engaging players in combat, like entities that have been attacked by Abby will have a chance to change their hate target to Wendy. But you guys don't even want to think about that. So the solution you guys gave was to just nerf Abby, making her lose almost all of her passive ability to avoid damage, and even adding the stagnation state that makes her very much more at risk of taking hits (even if it makes her even worse than pigfolk/mermfolk when it comes to dodge) In short, making her back to being a mediocrity killed by four strikes. Then to make up for it, you guys make her dodge bosses at low hp and immune to one fatal hit under certain conditions. By doing this you get the player back into the fight. All I can say is that yes, it worked, and I had to join the fight and watch over Abby during the fight to keep her from dying too quickly. But did it ever occur to you guys that I could have done otherwise, I've played this game for 3300+ hours and I have all the skills to beat bosses. I could have fought any boss one on one and it would have been less work and more efficient than calling Abby. Babysitting Abby in the middle of a fight doesn't give me much benefit, but it takes a lot more energy out of me. "It's a character for new players, they need that", you'll tell me. Okay, so let's do the math. Regular Abby's maximum damage is 40/s, and the moon version is 200/5s - at first glance, there's not much of a difference, is there? But the moon version of Abby not only doesn't have much more kite ability (because of that sluggish 1 second) and survivability (because she can take damage while attacking now), but she even loses her AOE... can you tell me the reason for choosing the moon version? Then let's look at the new branch you've added, you can now get live a butterfly with a butterfly wing for "only" 4 Mourning Glory, so why do I need live butterflies? Well, it turns out that I need to kill critters for my shadow skill(I'm going to ignore the whole thing about the Shadow skill simply changing the value of a variable to create another Wolfgang.), so what do I need if I just grab four butterflies? Oh, turns out it's 2 silks and some grass and twigs. so tell me, why do I need to craft live butterflies? The reason I can think of is to show off to Abby: "Hey look Abby, I can resurrect butterflies oh that's awesome isn't it lol" DST used to be a great game, and so far it's worth 3300 hours of my personal time, but future... who knows. Finally, let's see my game time to prove that I didn't lie to you. They're changing up the stats to see how it would fare as a test. They overnerfed her but considering how the reception has gone through (and the attitude towards it) it's safe to say it's gonna get looked at, again. Ya'll seriously can't handle being part of a beta if you have to throw a fit every time something changes and act like it'll be the end of the world. Skill trees are not just for you personally, it is for everyone and within all types of players no matter the play hours. Butterfly crafting is just convenient for the peeps who's gonna get lots of mourning glory anyways and easier time getting flowers for the sisturn, the price is a bit steep but that can be changed easily to something more comfortable. I don't know what the purpose of reviving a butterfly is, unless killing one resurrected butterfly is equivalent to killing ten ordinary butterflies. I think the main problem is that Klei has a clear attitude of ignoring unresolved issues every time he leaves the test server, which is evident in Wilson and Wigford's skill tree. Players don't want to see this scene happen again, so they have been providing as much feedback as possible, even making statements that make people feel emotionally unstable. If the test server is closed, the unsatisfactory content becomes the content of the official server. These players are completely disappointed. Winonas skill tree bridges were changed to work underground. IK its relatively minor, but it was a change they spent time discussing in the beta stream, so they obviously thought of it as significant. Maybe im misremembering bit I thought the whole reason caves voids got reworked was because of that.
