Anything from the dlcs you'd like to see being added into dst?

Sure DSTs boats require way more player interaction, but If it’s just not fun… simplicity is better?

I agree the boat controls can be clunky, just playing on keyboards. It must be worse on controller. It should have more polishing, but I don't think instead of fixing the issues with the DST boats, implementing a SW-boat system would be good. To me, it genuinely feels like a waste of development resources to do this to the boats now.

?????? I didn't ever say to remove DST boats entirely. I just want Klei to give players more choices when it comes to sailing. We already see how messed up and boring DST boats were. The Dragon Boat legit turned Klei into a laughing stock, despite what it could do (in theory by taking inspiration from real life) for players to enjoy sailing.

As @Just Ragnar had said, having SW boats in DST won't ever break the game. Certainly not to the point where it was now, where game legit turned into Boss Fight Simulator #5939.

Please learn to read posts mindfully or something.

No. I did not imply or even think that you think that they should be removed.

I was pointing to the fact that it would end up wasting all work done on the current boats, because players would be incentivized to just use the SW boats in most cases. Klei would also have to spend extra work so that the SW boats would be retrofitted into the game and actually work smoothly with several ocean features. I don't think the "it's better to have more choices" is a good reason to add another mechanic to the game, especially when Klei already added better/faster seafaring tools and changes.

So by this logic, players shouldn't even have other methods to deal with mobs, amirite? Because melee weapons already do the job good enough, so ranged weapons should be thrown out of the window? Is that what you're saying? Just as players should deal with summer and spring via the Eyebrella only, while other options were left rotting? Is that what you want?

actually no, cookie boats can place structure on them, meaning you can fish in winter with a fire pit. having chest on them are also nice

Again, if we were to put both SW and DST boats alongside, they both have their own pros and cons. SW boats' main draw was that it's small, it's simple and can move fast enough. DST boats? You can even haul your entire base on it and still have some space if you do it right.

i mean the grass boat exsist tho...

So by this logic-

Yeah, no, I don't think you cannot understand how a person can take different stances on different things, even if they're tangentially related by some vaguely-defined "logic" and that this "logic" would directly oppose two different discussions.

That is the one of the few niches that SW boats do not have I was already alluding to.
I still do not understand why the SW boats should be implemented*, as for me, they'd just be a downgrade that would need extra developer work put in for them, either being obsolete or rendering the current boats and grass rafts obsolete, not mentioning teleportation and travel methods that already just dismiss the boats altogether, or end up replacing them.
*not that I do not understand WHY you want a change or better boats.

So by this logic, many things have already been obsolete. The telelocator staff and focus, for example; got outranked by Winona's Portasol. Doesn't that make such costly item being ignored already????

not a good compare, portasol is exclusive to winono

The telelocator staff and focus

Once more, you have generalized and leaped to conclusions.
They can still teleport non-inventory mobs, a function that no other items have.
In my opinion, the SW boats do not have any niche like that.

Normal boats would still be handy to serve as a place to deploy a personal raft off of. Restrictions for raft:
1. Constant loss of durability. Can't repair while using?
2. Any hit against the player damages the raft?
3. No crafting while using?
4. No storage (chests, fishing tin). Anything you drop ends up in the water.
5. No light/heat/cold. Must carry moggles/sunfish/bream.
6. No fire suppression. Need to use water balloons or release spittlefish.
7. No pinchin' winch (need some better loot for ocean debris, etc., to keep this useful).
8. Just isn't a mobile base like boat is.

Upsides are better mobility and fitting through small gaps (e.g., sea stacks). Waves will push you more than boat, but can get back to boss in equivalent time due to acceleration.

I'm imagining one of those pedal boats so your hands are free. Skins available to make it look like a floaty boaty knight, swan, or rubber duck(/mosling).

better mobility

That's legit all what SW boats have that's better than DST boats. I really just can't wrap my head around how these people not wanting a smaller boat for a quick use that's small enough to fit thru gaps (see that screenshot I sent in this thread) and a bit faster in movement depends on what you do.

grass boat is smaller than wooden one and is dirt cheap

Getting back on topic from another silly half a decade old complaint about boats.

Introduction of shipwrecked spyglass into DST would be splendid.

New weather additions would be cool too, maybe something after lunar rifts; instead of braindead rain that do damage we can have high winds or hayfever - just overall less snooze inducing mechanics.

I would like the entire DLCs to be added to DST as being compatible.

DST was actually a Standalone expansion pack to the single player game, so “technically” it’s part of the first game and it’s DLCs.

But since that’s highly unlikely to happen..

I want Snakes from SW & Hamlet for the upcoming Year of the snake event added as a new hostile mob.

Snakes would be a perfect mob to add to DST, they can be on the surface, in caves, and also randomly swimming about in that empty ocean we got.

Turns out boats need to be bigger. To be practical. We have used a mod that allows for bigger ships. It works quite well.

lately I've been using the dragonfly boats (because they are dirt cheap), and I find them to be quite great,I feel that they are quicker and more reliable. especially on treasure hunts.

Also, I'd bring Nettles, a food that never spoils and can be mass produced. Shears, just because I love clipping things. (I miss making ten cork barrels out of 5 trees and a few seconds in the jungle). And Lastly, snake bones/ snake bone soup, for obvious reasons.
