Bionic duplicants should need to be manufactured and not printed like normal duplicants

Bionic duplicants should be crafted as a mid/late game addition rather than printed early game like regular duplicants. Printing them could be an option in the game settings during choose destination.

It would be more interesting if we had a build to create a bionic duplicant and, possibly in the form of a story trait, we would have some "broken" or "deactivated" by the asteroid to fix.

With that we could have a special advanced skill for a duplicant to craft them. And to maintain them. Let's say that they can break or rust over time and that from time to time maintenance by a specialized duplicator would be necessary.

From this point on, there are endless options and ideas that can arise.

I think this would be more interesting and fun than the current version, but I imagine it would take some extra work for the DLC. Nothing is impossible and even if it takes longer to release I wouldn't mind waiting to have more playstyle options.

I understand the thought process and would enjoy a story trait to switch between bionics and dupes, but I don't quite agree with them being exclusively mid/late game. One of my favorite things in video games are sidegrades, something that fulfills the same role as something else but does it in a different and unique way and can be combined with the original for more versatility or done all on its own for uniqueness. Bionics function as incredible sidegrades to dupes, as they can do everything a dupe can, but have different needs and consume oxygen differently. Due to only requiring a small amount of power, they are currently slightly better than standard dupes, but in general, they are mostly sidegrades that have unique benefits but also unique drawbacks that can easily grant a more unique early game as well as changing up the mid game.

I started my game selecting only bionics as my starting dupes, it was super fun and challenging. I would like to preserve such option, not to unlock it in mid game when everything is already solved and I can just to random projects for lolz.

However, I agree that we should have more control over how much bionics we get. Option to enhance normal dupes to bionic status would be really nice.

If we talk about mid/late game options, I wouldn't mind seeing more advanced boosters for them, perhaps not only skills but also some other OP buffs. Eg temperature resistance. Something to make them more robotic

A slider when we start a new map were we can either get no bionic dupe, sometime (like now) or always from the printing pod would be nice.
