Feedback on Wendy's Skill Tree Updates and Some Questions

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some thoughts on the recent updates to Wendy's skill tree, specifically regarding Abigail's new commands.


Positive Impressions

  • Abigail's Haunt Ability

    Initially, I thought some of the new commands for Abigail were just fillers, but after watching some beta gameplay videos, they seem to have real utility. I really like the idea of Abigail being able to haunt things. Since she's in ghost form, this adds a fun and thematic element to gameplay. I recall Klei mentioning an increased chance of successful haunting; if that's true, it would be great!

  • Improved Escape Command

    The Escape Command has gotten better. Klei has given Abigail a short period of invincibility during this command, which is excellent because it differentiates it from simply recalling her. This makes it more strategic and useful in combat situations.


Concerns

  1. Temporary Health for Abigail

    • We can now get up to 600 temporary health for Abigail, but I don't find this particularly useful. I'd prefer if Klei replaced it with a permanent health increase, even if they nerfed the value.
    • Spending several minutes in-game to gain temporary health doesn't seem efficient, especially when we can use Elixirs to heal Abigail more effectively. Mourning Glories are relatively easy to obtain, and with the new skill, we sometimes get two Elixirs per craft.
  2. Skill Allowing Deceased Players to Attack Mobs

    • I still don't find the skill that allows deceased players to continue attacking mobs to be useful. It doesn't seem to enhance the gameplay experience significantly.
  3. Grave-Related Skills

    • The grave-related skills feel scattered and not well-integrated. Originally, they seemed intended to help farm Dark Petals, but currently, we don't need them as much since Klei removed the Floral Shroud (which I personally liked because it allowed us to share health with Abigail, making it feel like we were fighting together).

Questions

  1. Lunar and Shadow-Related Skills Compatibility

    • Are the Lunar-related skills and Shadow-related skills mutually exclusive? That is, can we only choose one path, or can we unlock both?
  2. Activation Requirements for Certain Skills

    • In the game, are we required to defeat the Celestial Champion (Alter Guardian) or the Ancient Fuelweaver to unlock certain skills every time we play, or is defeating them once in a previous save sufficient?
    • If defeating these bosses is required each time, does this imply that these skills are intended for the late-game phase in every playthrough?

Conclusion

I'm looking forward to the next hotfix and the new ideas Klei brings for Wendy. I hope the skill tree becomes more cohesive and aligns well with Wendy and Abigail's playstyle.

  • Again, vengeful ghost is supposed to be fun, not powerful according to devs. Its harmless fun
  • All alignment skills are mutuallly exclusive

Actually you can have both Shadow and Lunar Sisterhood II, by using the portal to switch skilltree after crafting them.

That's makes sense to me because pouring the potion on the flowers doesn't seem to require any special magic power... But I doubt Developer will change it soon.

It always puzzles me, if a lunar abigail is to take a shadow potion, shouldn't it just be poisoned to death?

you don't need to defeat them every time; if you've ever defeated celestial champion or ancient fuelweaver, you will be able to choose the respective affinity on any character's skill tree, regardless of which character you actually defeated them with. (i've beaten both bosses as WX-78, and only ancient fuelweaver as wortox, but i've had both of wortox's affinity options available to me since i started the beta)
