Walter's upcoming ammo production rebalance

Recommended Posts

So I figured I'd post this since I'm worried about how they're going to handle the ammo production I know they feel the current amount is too much but I hope they also keep in mind that not everyone is going to be playing Walter alone and before this perk his crafts were really grindy and resource intensive and this is going to have to translate into there inevitably being more Walter players after his skill tree fighting over very limited resources basically the old Wx problem on a far larger scale. If it needs to drop fine but I don't think the production rate for the skill should be any lower than 30 if possible.

40 is too much, especially for the utility rounds...

as klei stated, they want to change the number of rounds yield per craft if you are crafting a specific round.

I have tried a bit the beta, and 40 rounds is really too too much, i think 25/30 can be a good solution.

Klei is going to increase the base ammos given too.

I could handle 30 but anything lower than that seems like it'd be a problem this also applies to utility rounds since some of those use gems and bottles.

I mean, ill be fine if utility rounds would be 10 base craft, 15 and 20 with tree skills tbh, you use them way less than the damaging rounds like once every 5-10 rounds so i think that would be fair and not too grindy

I believe they did mention that they're planning to increase the base amount per craft, right? Could be good.

are you talking about icker rounds? aren't crafts using bottles give the empty bottles back?

I don't know that still seems like it'd be pretty grindy though maybe if they removed the moonstone cost as well?

Slow down rounds need to be looked into more yeah, i can agree to that

Also if they are going to lower the production amount of rounds, we need a way to carry many different types of damage rounds to make up for it. If Wendy can get a potion storage, Walter can get a pellet belt to store all his rounds.

Woby can do that job easy but it would be nice anyway tbh since now we have so many different types of ammo xd. Im sticking with using 2 scrap slingshot for infinite damage and utility ammo atm

I could have sworn it consumed mine but that might have been a issue with a mod?

It's not really enough storage unless you plan on using Woby for nothing but ammo and even then you won't be able to switch them around very well since you can't access the storage while mounted this'll also became a much bigger issue with his upgraded slingshot as now you'll need a entire second slingshot to avoid dropping all the excess on the ground.

I treat woby as a replacement to a backpack as Walter needs to wear body armour with pinecone hat to negate his downside. Filling woby up with pellets is something I really don't want to do. I'll end up just carrying a full stack of gold or marble and crafting them into pellets as I need it... which isnt ideal either.

Yea I've kinda just gone back to using a backpack and helm due to how much ammo we got...

My go to armor is cc crown, dreadstone suit and piggy back when not in combat so i dont really take into account the sanity lost cause i use woby to kite anything even horse shadow piece lvl 3, but now with the support and damage badge that strat would be even better, making you have a passive pinecone hat at all time :P

And yes, cc crown triggers anytime you use the slingshot so free damage :D

And since walter ignores sanity auras, he can keep using the crown without much trouble in boss fights if you kite well enought

the utility ones shouldn't be mass produced honestly because you are not to actively going to use them IMO.

You'll definitely actively use the ones that effect speed since they're most needed when fighting faster enemies.

Yeahhh support/bravery badge helps but still you need to dismount to access woby.

Ahh I still don't like it. You give other characters unique storage for their tedious to hold character items then you expect Walter to use one of his primary upsides to cover the same thing? Just means Walter is getting a raw deal compared to others.

Edit: scrappy frame sorts this problem but it's very late game. A body slot pellet belt that you can store in inventory even if it has pellets in it but requires you to wear to access would be balanced enough

yes, but you are not going to kill them with those rounds, therefore they'll be used in less quantity

You are not going to kill with them but you are going to want a stockpile of them since ideally you'll want to use them in multiple day to day scenarios and if the conversion rate is low Walters are going to end up hoarding the related materials for support rounds those being blue gems, purple gems, and moon stones again this won't be as much of a issue if your playing by yourself or are on a long term server but not everyone has that luxury and now that Walter is leaning harder into his ranged character role he's going to want access to more support rounds now more than ever.
