fulldiver
TL;DR: The Plumbing, Ventilation and Conveyor Overlays should have the pipes/rails render over all other buildings. Pipes and rails should also render over their respective bridges. --------------- The way pipes and rails render behind certain buildings in their overlays can be inconvenient, and in the case of certain buildings seem almost buggy. Below are all the buildings in the base game that can interact wiith the plumbing system. Circled in red are buildings that render over the pipes, specifically the Mini Pump, Bottle Filler, Bottle Drainer, and Liquid Filter. The Mini Pump and Bottle Filler specifically seem like they shouldn't be that way. For the rest of the encircled, it's nearly impossible to tell how the pipes connect behind the buildings. Also circled in red is the Liquid Meter Valve, which for some reason is glowing white. Below are all the buildings in the base game that interact with the ventilation system. Encircled in yellow for comparison are the Mini Gas Pump and Canister Filler, which render behind the pipes as compared to their Liquid/Bottle counterparts (though there seems to be an intentionally semi-transparent section of the Canister Filler, which is how I assume the Bottle Filler should have also been). Circled in red are other buildings that render in front of the pipes, making it nearly impossible to see how they connect behind them. The Metered Gas Valve also is glowing white, similar to its Liquid counterpart. Below are all the buildings in the base game that interact with the conveyor system, all of which render in front of the conveyor overlay, making it nearly imposible to see how the rails connect behind them. The Conveyor Bridge is especially inconvenient when compared to Liquid and Gas Bridges, both of which allow players to see the pipe behind them. It's interesting to note that the Conveyor Meter does NOT glow white like its Liquid and Gas counterparts. I think that these overlays should just render in front of all buildings and even bridges. To illustrate this point, here is an image of an input and output plumbing node whose already connected piping is completely obscured by the Liquid Vent. The same is true for all the Filters, Valves, Shutoffs, and Meters shown in previous images. The pipes/rails behind them are connected, which is difficult to tell for most and impossible for the rest (with the exception of the transparent Liquid Valve and Shutoff). But I still really think this should be a vanilla feature.
