Wortox Skilltree ain't so bad actually??

Recommended Posts

I mean look... it actually gives Wortox what he needed and what I expected
but I was too busy picking at twintailed hearts and knabsacks to notice that skilltree offers:

-Smoothed out teleportation in late game so you can have more freedom with traveling
-Mastery for utilizing soulhops in combat via Shadow Harvester that makes it VERY worth it even in late game
-Soul Jar on it's own is really convenient and precious
-Soul Pierce helps with what Wortox deals with the most: Groups of enemies and has potential to aid during AFW fight
-Soul Bastion might seem like uninspired buff, but it's also indirect discount for teleportation since you need less healing now

still I think that twintails are an overkill on supporting department, since Wortox's job is to prevent death with his potent healing and knabsack scaling still seems like too much time commitment and inventory sacrifice for it to be worth it

but it doesn't matter because  I actually got everything I ever needed for Wortox without turning him into a baby mode that skips fundamentals of combat

Thank you Klei

For what i think: the new heart has a lot of uses cause can you can use it as a emergency heal to heal for 150-300 hp around you and some sanity! And whats best, you can use it with the thirs skill a as tp to wortox, so wortox can tp anywhere at map and bring friends! The souls dealing damage works so well against multiple enemies with the shadow reaper synergy tbh i love it. The only thing that need fixing in my opinion is the nabsack to some degree and the fake wortox bait since it does basicly nothing. The new weapon may be too much commitment but its good if you can achieve it i guess!

It costs your soul echo, though. That's kind of annoying for just an extra hit or weak AoE.

It deals double damage to single targets and allows you to clear bees in matter of seconds
EDIT:
Don't forget it works with 2 echoes

Double damage? I tested it with dummy targets and didnt notice any damage boost

i would like two changes so far, make the nabsack damage scale if wortox have a krampus sack, aint that easy to get anyway and make it repairable with souls

also, give us colored soul skins, and skins for the new items already, playing verdant wortox with red everything else aint my thing

Im thinking the difference between console wortox and PC wortox are really going to become a problem with a chunk of the combat perks.

I’m thinking Klei’s pipeline dream of having Crossplatform DST has become even more problematic after these new skill trees for not just Wortox, but now also basic Summon/Dismiss functions of Abigail too.

...What? Are you sure about this statement? Infinitely spammable kiting and healing isn't baby mode? I completely disagree with this takeaway. The decision-making and resource management that required creative thinking and made this character relatively challenging to play is gone now. There is no risk-taking or hard choices to make anymore.

JUSTICE FOR WORTOX!

Keep the comment section constructive, please.

Klei needs to see perspectives, ideas and the reason of why we feel bad about it, not "Skilltree bad because I say so".

I have to admit that Nice is nice.

Neutral and Naughty have serious problems. Right now the obvious thing to do is to skip neutral and only get the jar from naughty, maybe the decoy bomb or soul pierce 1 just for killing bees slightly faster (though the decoy also has problems right now).

I'm guessing your build was pretty similar to what I posted. I only hope that changes are made so that there are multiple good perk builds for Wortox, not just one (as has happened with some other characters).

I tried it out in survival. Its fun.

I just think some of the filler skills are useless.

Everything is a cool idea

For me panflute skills are an overkill
the free pop once per day is a nice treat
but the special effects are bad, because all we use panflute for is to:
Interrupt states (Dragonfly) or disarm enemies (Klaus and Bee Queen)

I would rather swap them out with:
1. A skill that allows beefalo to interact with souls
2. Ability to trigger beehives and bee boxes without damaging them, I think it has nice late game potential for soul refills in the places without many mobs :^)

I saw an idea in another thread I really liked: swap his neutral talents with being able to make different special pan flutes.

A basic one that is like a cheaper pan flute with less uses maybe. A Dripple Pipes type so Wicker isn't the only character that can affect rain. Then maybe some sort of buffing one, to lay into his support role.

Since you guys are testing (I'm on the Switch so I'll see this update probably in February) I'm wondering what kind of DPS a battle oriented Wortox does assuming you have Soul Pierce + Soul Harvester with the cowl and reaper on.

For reference, below are some baseline measurements by Jakeysaurus. What do you guys think?
