MrMyther
A lot of the current gems are clearly more powerful than others, id like to share a few ideas on how the underperforming gems could be improved to make them a more viable option. The Damage Gems The Pristine Gem has a very nice effect, but is outshined by other gems due to its trigger - I suggest flipping it around, so that the Player requires full health instead of the Enemy they attack, to give it some more consistency instead of only applying to the first hits during waves. The Critical Chance Gem would benefit from having increased stats, not much to say about it. The Backstab Gem is a very nice concept for a trigger, but the actual stat bonus is very small for what it is, increasing the stats would help this gem stand out more among the other red gems. The Sustain Gems The Backstab Protection Gem has the same problem as the Backstab Gem, very interesting trigger, but underwhelming effect - especially as you typically will not be facing away from any attackers. The Boss Protection Gem and Miniboss Protection Gem would benefit from being merged together, aswell as a small increase to its stats - These gems feel very underwhelming when separated, but together would have significantly more reason to equip. The Max Health Gem is simple and mostly effective, but outshined by most of the blue gems with any healing effect - increasing the health bonus it applies would greatly improve how it feels to use. The following few Sustain Gems I feel would greatly benefit from being switched to Support Gems due to current Locked Slot system The Pick-Me-Up Gem has a very minor healing effect, increasing the chances would greatly improve its usefulness - switching its typing to a Support Gem feels as if it would be a better fit for the current system. The Acid Protection Gem has a very useful stat as it is currently, but its type prevents it from being used on 80% of the weapons currently available - I suggest switching it to a Support Gem, so it may be used on all of the current weapons The Trap Protection Gem and the Projectile Protection Gem suffer the same issue as each other, having too small of an effect and having the least common gem type present in gem slots - increasing the stats while switching them to Support Gems would allow them to be used on every weapon currently available, so no player would have to switch off their favourite weapon just to gain these bonuses. The Support Gems The Scavenger's Gem, Forager's Gem and the Crafter's Gem are all very useful gems for grinding materials to aid in progression, but I see no reason for them to all be separate gems - merging these effects into a single gem would help reduce clutter, as well as improving their effectiveness for grinding materials. The Runspeed Gem is very simple, just needs a minor increase to its stat bonus to be more noticeable. These are the only gems I have any comments for, all the other gems are in a great spot and feel good to use. Interested to know what other people think of these ideas, or if they have any others of their own. (All Screenshots are edits to show what I feel they should be - not their current state in game) (Thanks to the Slot-Bonus mechanic most of these issues are now solved) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160724-beta-gem-tunings-and-rebalance-suggestions/ Share on other sites

I personally use the Pristine Gem with Gnarlic Build. This set deals massive damage to enemies especially with full health. Also the gems are quite great with weapons deals massive one time damage such as the Tenderizer or Yammo weapons. Besides that I agree on the most point of your opinions. Especially the damage resistance gems. For now most of the dmg resistance gems are inferior to the Counter Protection Gems so the numbers should be more higher than that. 2 hours ago, MrMyther said: The Scavenger's Gem, Forager's Gem and the Crafter's Gem are all very useful gems for grinding materials to aid in progression, but I see no reason for them to all be separate gems - merging these effects into a single gem would help reduce clutter, as well as improving their effectiveness for grinding materials. MrMyther
The Choosey Gem - Numbers wise, this gem is perfect, its just how it interacts with itself that feels a bit iffy - Currently this gem will not stack with itself, and instead just add to its available charges. This is an example of a power drop with 3 Choosey Gems - Only having the bonus of one gem applied, feels very underwhelming when you dedicate multiple gemslots for it, compared to duping other gem effects. Would be alot more interesting to have it apply each gem bonus individually, instead of increasing the amount of activations for a single bonus across a run. RancorSnp
Critical chance gem absolutely needs a buff. At the moment the benefit of 1 to 3% critical chance basically makes the gem useless, I'd say 3 to 10% chance could be still a bit on the weaker side but add up to mattering when multiple gems are used Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160724-beta-gem-tunings-and-rebalance-suggestions/#findComment-1768256 Share on other sites
