Already self-sustaining, what else is there to build as a solo player--?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm a new player (630hrs-ish) and I have only played the game seriously for the past 100 hours or so, with only the Celestial Champ questline to go. As the title suggests, I can already sustain food and renewable resources (logs, reeds, etc.). I don't see a clear, distinguishable goal for me to work towards. I let days pass just sitting by the Scale Furnace and chomping meatballs. What can I build in my base that is useful or is eye candy? Here is my current base, all under 03 average-knob trees and the theme is forest/Walter. (the headache of building an aesthetic base made out of flammable material is the risk of wildfire and burning tumbleweed lol)

Also I would love to see what your base looks like (:

I know you ask for builds but I suggest it's time for you to go for the Celestial champion. You not only get Infinite tools but also Infinite storage and lighting, Sawhorse and Terra firma temper and a way to get new endgame trees from it aswell!

Also I Love your base. I love how made it look so natural. Like something our survivors would make.

Thank you! That was my intention as well. I wanted to build something homely, that looks like it's lived in. I'm not a fan of megabase with functional zones and cobble roads as far as the eye can see. My style is also the reason why I can't really build other things that can blend in well. The new Hallowed Night Maize Hay Wall skin really meshes well with the Victorian Stone Wall.

I just kinda go big and make it look pretty to me. But yeah cc would be a good thing to start expanding a base.

I did build a kitchen but I don't have a screenshot atm.

I love your use of mannequins. Usually I just see them as makeshift friends lol

you really have an eye for basing<3<3 honestly you should post this in the basebuilder thread!

i am currently trying to get my new base sorted so a lot of it is it is too ugly/incomplete to share but i can show some stuff from my previous long-term world(i use custom colour-cubes)

In what world, on what game, is 600+ hours not a veteran player?

Well only in 100 of those hours (recently) did I actually accomplish something lol. Every other world before this was spent whiffing around, surviving (not even thriving), fighting 04 seasonal bosses, and visiting the cave for lightbulbs. I never actually survived past 100-200 days, nor did I have the drive to play more. I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the Celestial Champ questline and the new Shadow/Lunar Rift content.

Also, I've played Path of Exile for more than those hours and I still suck at it.

Thank you for the compliment. I love how you use gems and bells, tickle my goblin brain. Although I don't think I could bring myself to live on Lunar Island solely because of the color filter :v Your Moon Dial inspired me.

How do you disable the canopy in the upper part of the screen from the big trees?

I didn't exactly disable it, but I turned off all of the UI at the same time to take screenshots. I think it was F10? But there is a mod to disable canopy out there.

This mod has a option to disable Canopy leaves. You can also disable the shadows from the game settings

I love how you have a theme for your base, and the skins you chose, it fits your whole forest vibes well!

Coincidentally, I'm also procrastinating the CC fight right now, I did everything leading up to it and currently have the inactive Celestial Tribute at my base, but I'm kinda intimidated so i'm just procrastinating the inevitable haha.

Unfortunately I started with a very rigid/form over function style of base setup in my current world, so right now it's been tough trying to make stuff look nice and natural. (so, sorry no screenshots haha) I do have some plans! Eventually I'm looking to build a saladmander enclosure, a 'zoo'/nature park with koalefants and various mobs + a huge kitcoon nursery build.

I haven't experienced the yearly events so i'm excited to use event-specific items to decorate too! After I defeat CC though, which will probably take a while...

I definitely relate to the 'let days pass and chomping on meatballs feeling', so apart from building I also plan to unlock all scrapbook entries using my current world and am currently slowly working towards that goal.

Good luck with your base building! ^^
