Not getting hit is the single most important thing in difficult stages where a single hit from enemies can literally cut your hp by half. And that's what ranged weapon are good at, and they can even utilize such huge damage buff from those armors. I personally would like to see some innate damage reduction to all kinds of melee weapons, despite it's unlikely to be happened.
