Riddla
This is a raw draft of possible skills Warly could use in his skilltree. Ideas and numbers are subject to change – I wish to periodically look back and see what works, and what doesn’t, because I am struggling with it right now. Some of the sections are visualized to deliver the point across and to make the document less painful to read. All of the sprites used below are NOT mine, they're all DS/DST assets (certain stuff is edited a bit). Chef’s Knife Warly can craft his very own knife, at a cost of 2 Flint and 2 Twigs. The knife allows him to cut vegetables, meat/fish, and also be used as a weapon to obtain 1 extra Meat drop from creatures. Damage: 34 Durability: 150 Dissection I: Warly can cut 1 Meat into 2 Morsels, and 1 Fish into 2 Fish Morsels. II: When cutting Meat or Fish, they have 33% chance to yield 1 Butter, and 50% chance to yield 1-2 Bone Shards. Portioning Warly can cut any vegetable to receive 2-3 Vegetable Scraps. Stats upon consumption: Vegetable Scraps: 6 Hunger, 0.5 Health. Cooked Vegetable Scraps: 9 Hunger, 1 Health. 1 Vegetable Scraps acts as 1 Vegetable value in crockpot. Lunchbox (Recipe: 1 Board, 1 Rope) Warly learns to craft Wooden Lunchboxes, which allow him to store and shut tight up to 4 food items, including crockpot dishes. Lunchboxes can be stored in your inventory, and can be opened any time as containers. Food inside Lunchbox will spoil x2 times slowly. Putting Lunchboxes inside Ice Box will further slow down spoilage to x4. Salvage Warly can no longer cook Wet Goop when using edible ingredients in a crockpot. The dish that would otherwise fail will instead turn into a randomized dish that correlates to one of the ingredients used. (Wet Goop can still be cooked if Warly only uses inedible ingredients in crockpot.) (Scrapped, this would likely make the cooking system far more confusing with such interference) Picnic Blanket (Recipe: 1 Beefalo Wool, 2 Silk) Warly can craft a Picnic Blanket, which allows him to assemble it on the floor (or on the table!). When Warly right-clicks the blanket in his inventory, a prompt appears which allows him to choose 6 Foods or Crockpot Dishes from his inventory. Afterwards, Warly assembles the blanket, along with the food he chose on top of it. He, and any survivors, can right-click the Picnic Blanket to sit down and start eating the dishes slowly together for up to 20 seconds. The picnic will persist for 2 minutes total. The stats restored from all of the picnic food are split evenly among all players near Warly. When players eat together at once, each player will increase stat restoration from dishes by 33% after the split. Spoiler Mechanical explanation: When Warly puts down the blanket with food, it will stay for up to 2 minutes total so that everyone can join in time. All of the stats from crockpot dishes on the blanket are combined into one, and then are split evenly among all players near Warly that are within up to 10-15 turf tiles of him. So if there are 3 players nearby, total stats are divided by 3, and so on. After such split, the total stats are increased by 33% per every player eating together at once - this comes into effect if there is more than 1 person eating. Math: 3 players nearby, 1 player eating only: Total Stats / 3 3 players nearby, 2 players eating together: Total Stats / 3 * 1.33 5 players nearby, 3 players eating together: Total Stats / 5 * 1.66 The stats are restored gradually, in a form of regeneration during these 20 seconds of eating. When a player manages to finish eating within 20 seconds, they will not be able to eat anymore on that blanket – they will either comment that they’re too full to eat, or that it would be too rude to eat everything without leaving food for others. Leftovers I: Portable Grinding Mill produces extra 1-2 spices. II: Portable Crockpot now returns 1 random ingredient that was used for a crockpot dish. Grinding Proficiency I: Warly can grind 4 Seeds to produce 1 Garlic or Pepper spice. II: Warly can grind 6 Butterflies to produce 1 Butter. Fast Food Warly can craft a few dishes on the go without cooking: Fistful of Jam: 3 Berries Kabobs: 1 Twig + 1 Morsel + 1 Carrot Trail Mix: 2 Berries + 1 Birchnut (Scrapped. Portable crockpot exists. Extremely redundant. What was I even thinking...) Fishing Net Warly can craft a Fishing Net, which can be thrown into Ocean to catch and drag affected fish to himself. It costs 4 silk + 2 ropes to craft, and has a durability of 4 uses. Cooking Fat Warly can cut 1 Butter into 3 Butter Cubes. Applying a Butter Cube to a Crockpot Dish will cause the dish to regenerate 33% extra of its stats to the consumer over time within 15 seconds. Butter Cubes can also be used as 1 Butter/Dairy value in crockpot dishes. Crockpot Mastery I: Portable Crockpot will cause the cooked dish to spoil at a x4 slower rate until taken out of crockpot, and will also always yield dishes with 100% Freshness, no matter how spoiled the ingredients are. II: Warly can interact with Crockpot or Portable Crockpot while it’s cooking and accelerate it. Doing so causes the crockpot to finish cooking within 3 seconds. Also allows Warly to carry Portable Crockpot with the cooked dish inside, with the x4 slower Spoilage effect from 1st skill. III: Portable Crockpot gains 50% chance to yield double amount of crockpot dishes, and 33% chance to yield triple amount instead. Thyme Time Gain access to Herbs, which can be obtained from harvesting vegetables that favor specific seasons, at a 33% drop rate. Mint – Autumn, Spring. Basil – Winter, Spring. Thyme – Summer, Spring. Herbs can be applied through Portable Seasoning Station to buff stats of a crockpot dish, and restore freshness of the dish by 20%. Mint causes a dish to restore +10 more Sanity. Basil causes a dish to restore +10 more Health. Thyme causes a dish to restore +20 more Hunger. Only one herb can be applied at a time. Dishes can accept both Herbs and Seasonings. Savour the Flavour I: Seasonings and Special Buffs will last 50% longer for Warly. II: Seasonings and Special Buffs will last 100% longer for Warly. Seasoned Warrior Warly can apply spices to his weapon, which grants different effects to it depending on the spice applied. These spices last for 100 hits. All of the effects below last for 10 seconds. Salt – Shrinks creature’s skin, making it twice more vulnerable to Ice and Fire attacks. Pepper – The wounds burn, causing a creature to take 15% extra Damage from all sources. Garlic – Disorients with pungent smell, causing creatures close to Warly to deal 15% less Damage. Honey – Blasts with sticky slime, causing the target and nearby creatures to move 33% slower. Expansive Palate Warly now tracks unique dishes he has eaten in a row, building up a streak that resets to zero if Warly eats the same dish he has eaten before. Each unique dish grants Warly one point of Innovation. For example: Eating Butter Muffin -> Meaty Stew -> Meatballs will grant Warly 3 Innovation. If he eats any other dish he hasn’t eaten before in this streak, he will gain 4th Innovation point. If he eats Butter Muffin, Meaty Stew, or Meatballs in this streak again, he will lose all Innovation points and the streak resets back to 0. Each point of Innovation will cycle different bonuses for Warly upon eating a unique crockpot dish: 1 Innovation – Nothing 2 Innovation - +5 Hunger 3 Innovation - +5 Hunger, +5 Sanity 4 Innovation - +5 Hunger, +5 Sanity, +5 Health. 5 Innovation - +5 Hunger/Sanity/Health, and +25% Spice Strength 6-10 Innovation - +15 Hunger, +10 Sanity/Health, +33% Spice Strength, +120s Buff and Spice duration. 11+ Innovation - +25 Hunger, +15 Sanity/Health, +50% Spice Strength, +240s Buff and Spice duration. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Discovery As Warly adapts to the world, his imagination bolsters with ideas on how to utilize the ingredients found in Constant. When Warly eats a big variety of unique crockpot dishes in the current world, he discovers new crockpot recipes. There are 8 new recipes he can discover: 2 Vegetarian dishes 2 Meat dishes 2 Fish dishes 2 Goodie dishes. To discover a new recipe, Warly must eat 5 unique dishes of correlating food category. So, for example, 5 different Vegetarian dishes for 1st new Vegetarian Recipe, and 10 different Vegetarian dishes for 2nd new Vegetarian Recipe. Most of the dishes below are from DST’s Gorge event – I think it’s a great opportunity to bring back some of the dishes into the base game! All of the dishes below incur 3-day Food Memory for Warly. Special dish effect of these recipes are exclusive to Warly, and they work off food memory – this means Warly will not get such effect if he has already eaten that dish recently. "Servings" means that the crockpot will cook multiple of these dishes, rather than only 1. Vegetarian: Spicy Pumpkin Carrot Soup (3 servings) Hunger: 50 Sanity: 33 Health: 60 Recipe: 1 Pumpkin, 2 Carrots, 1 Pepper. Mushroom Burger (1 serving) Hunger: 100 Sanity: 15 Health: 30 Recipe: 1 Blue Cap, 1 Green Cap, 1 Onion, 1 Vegetable Effect: Multiplies Sanity or Health restoration by x1.5 on next 3 unique dishes that Warly eats, whichever stat is lower for him. Meat: Bacon Wrapped Meat (2 servings) Hunger: 75 Sanity: 33 Health: 40 Recipe: 2 Meat, 1 Egg, 1 Pepper Meatloaf (1 serving) Hunger: 150 Sanity: 15 Health: 30 Recipe: 1 Meat, 1 Leafy Meat, 1 Onion Effect: Next 3 unique dishes eaten after this one will convert 50% of excess Hunger gained into Sanity or Health, whichever is lower. Fish: Fish and Chips (2 servings) Hunger: 75 Sanity: 33 Health: 20 Recipe: 2 Fish, 1 Potato Fish Steak (2 servings) Hunger: 50 Sanity: 50 Health: 60 Recipe: 1.5 Fish, 1 Vegetable, 1 Onion Effect: Next 3 unique dishes eaten can restore Warly's stats over their max limit. If a stat is over max limit, it will decay by 1 every 2 seconds. Goodie: Carrot Cake (2 Servings) Hunger: 75 Sanity: 20 Health: 40 Recipe: 3 Carrot, 1 Butter Trifle (2 Servings) Hunger: 37.5 Sanity: 50 Health: 20 Recipe: 3 Berries, 1 Butter Effect: Health and Sanity stat of the 3 next unique dishes are combined into one number. That number is then spread out to Warly’s Sanity and Health in a way that makes them equal. (percentage-wise) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Smoker (Recipe: 4 Cut Stone, 10 Charcoal) Warly can deploy a Smoker, which allows him to cook up to 6 stacks of Meat in batches. Meat cooked inside Smoker will always end up with maximum freshness, and can be kept inside Smoker with x4 slower Spoil rate. Determined Scavenger I: Wild fruits and vegetables have 50% chance to yield an extra drop when harvested. II: Bee Boxes yield 50% more Honey when harvested. Husbandry Warly can craft 1 Feed Grain, which costs 4 Seeds, 4 Roasted Birchnuts, and 4 Cut Grass. When Warly feeds a Volt Goat with Feed Grain, it will eat it and get pacified, falling asleep and dropping 1-2 Electric Milk. The goat will also harmlessly shed 1 Volt Goat Horn. The horns on the goat will regrow within 6-10 Days. Culinary Training (Starter Skill?) Warly starts with 3 Empty Recipe Cards. Right-clicking on a food with Empty Recipe Card will cause Warly to write down ideas on what to do with that ingredient, generating a random Recipe Card which uses that ingredient you’ve right-clicked on. Warly will prioritize most common and accessible recipes first, for example: Ratatouille, Meatballs, or Fancy Spiraled Tubers, if Warly writes down about Potato. Warly will not write down the same dish he has already written before on Empty Recipe Card. Warly can spend 1 Papyrus to craft 1 Empty Recipe Card. Empty Recipe Card can also be simply right-clicked in inventory to generate 1 random common Recipe Card of random food you have in your inventory. Bountiful Fertilizer (Recipe: 3 Nitre, 2 Compost, 1 Growth Formula Starter) Applying it to a plot will cause next 10 grown vegetables to yield double amount of crops and seeds. Wild Crops When Warly is present in the world with this skill active, random patches of Wild Vegetables will grow throughout the Constant periodically. Warly can stumble upon the following vegetables below: Potato, Onion, Pepper, Garlic, Corn. Delightful Aroma Drift away your friends sorrowful thoughts about survival with heavenly scent of your cooking. When Warly is cooking a dish inside Portable Crockpot, nearby survivors receive +25/min Sanity aura. When a dish finishes cooking, survivors instantly receive +5 Sanity. Alluring Scent Feeding crockpot dishes to Pigmen and Bunnymen will cause 3 more of them nearby to also follow Warly. Feeding Monster Tartare to Pigman will immediately turn it into a Werepig, however it will be friendly towards Warly unless attacked. Spoiler Aroma skills were massively inspired by BiddoBams warly skilltree video, please check it out: Fish Farming Tank (Recipe: 4 Cut Stone, 4 Boards, 6 Silk) Allows Warly to construct a circular tank to store and breed fish inside. Warly can put two Ocean fish of the same species inside the tank, with an empty slot reserved for food that correlates to the diet of the fish. Every 4 minutes, an extra ocean fish of the same type will spawn inside the tank, and every 8 minutes the food gets consumed by 1. The tank can hold up to 6 extra fishes. Fishes can be safely retrieved any time. Essentially, this is a Bee Box but in fish form. (((Shadow Alignment))) The Food Critic Warly picks a far more serious side of cooking, getting accustomed to the highest standards imaginable. Picking this skill will grant Warly access to the following items: Black Pepper Combining 1 Pure Horror with 1 Pepper will result in 2 Black Pepper. Crockpot Dishes can be seasoned with Black Pepper, granting 10% Damage Increase against Lunar-aligned creatures, and 15% less Damage Taken from Shadow Creatures for 4 minutes. Black Pepper can also be thrown like a Napsack to create a black miasma cloud, causing all creatures inside to take +10 increased Planar Damage from attacks and melt for 30 Damage per second. Devil’s Food Cake (2 servings) Recipe: 1 Pure Horror, 1 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Butter, 1 Egg. Hunger: 75 Sanity: 0 Health: 0 Effect: Sets Warly’s sanity to zero. 10% of the sanity Warly had before eating the cake is converted into Planar Damage bonus for his melee attacks. Each melee attack will decay Planar Damage bonus by 0.5 Does not stack if repeatedly eaten, the bonus will be replaced. Distilled Preservative Recipe: 1 Empty Bottle, 2 Salt Crystals, 4 Nightmare Fuel Durability: 10 dishes. (bottle gets returned when emptied) Warly learns to utilize Nightmare Fuel’s power, breathing life into his dishes for a little longer. Without affecting the remaining lifetime of the dish, Distilled Preservative will cause Spoiled and Stale dishes to taste as if they're Fresh. (similar to how WX's food perk works) (((Lunar Alignment))) The Home Cook Warly keeps up his optimistic outlook by cooking for joy and his loved ones, with a pinch of love and care. Picking this skill will grant Warly access to the following items: White Pepper Combining 1 Pure Brilliance with 1 Pepper will result in 2 White Pepper. Crockpot Dishes can be seasoned with White Pepper, granting 10% Damage Increase against Shadow-aligned creatures, and 15% less Damage Taken from Lunar Creatures for 4 minutes. White Pepper can also be thrown like a Napsack to create a white soporific cloud, causing all creatures inside to take +10 increased Planar Damage from attacks and fall asleep. Flash-Freeze Preserver (Recipe: 1 Empty Bottle, 2 Salt Crystals, 4 Moon Glass) Durability: 10 dishes. (bottle gets returned when emptied) Warly learns how to make a preservative strong enough to entirely stop spoilage timer for crockpot dishes. Preserver will pause Spoiling of the crockpot dish by 3 days. After the effect runs out, the dish will start spoiling twice as fast for 3 days. Can be applied only once per dish. Angel Food Cake (2 servings) Recipe: 2 Pure Brilliance, 1 Butter, 1 Egg. Hunger: 75 Sanity: 0 Health: 0 Effect: Grants Lunacy. Being above 100 Sanity will cause Warly to deal 5 extra Planar Damage, increased by 1 per 20 points of Sanity above 100. Being below 100 Sanity will grant Warly 5 extra Planar Defense, increased by 1 per 20 points of Sanity lost below 100. All effects listed above last for 4 minutes. Riddla
Shameless bump, made some changes to the document: - Added some rough pictures for convenience - Added a few more skills (Bountiful Fertilizer, Wild Crops, Fish Farming Tank, Delightful Aroma) - Very minor adjustments to a few skills (smoker having slower spoilage, removed tillweed salve from grinding, increased picnic duration) - Tears dripped all over Shadow and Lunar alignment skills because I don't know what to do with them Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160185-raaaaw-warly-skills/#findComment-1753218 Share on other sites
A4FE
Woah! Didn't take count but that's... A LOT of skills! I'm a fan! Would love to have a player weigh in what matters most to them, and choose whether to take the convenience skills and have less to spend on the one's which buff, or vice versa, choosing to do things "the old fashioned way" but having that more explosive payoff. Something that always bothered me as Warly, and kinda shoots into what I said, but what about a 2 or 3 line of skills to let him start with his whole kitchen? I'm sure that would be an always take for some (me), and a waste of skills for others. Sweet Fistfuls of Jam here I come! Also nice for joining a server late and getting right to cooking! Edible Coal
Love the idea of warly getting rare food better than others, this incentivize people to play him more than just a swap character also alignment skill are really creative with the dark side gives planar and lunar gives AOE attack Wish klei take some suggestion from this post.... 15 hours ago, A4FE said: Woah! Riddla
I appreciate it! 6 hours ago, Edible Coal said: also alignment skill are really creative with the dark side gives planar and lunar gives AOE attack I honestly have a hard time coming up with Shadow/Lunar skills. I don't know whether he should get simple spices, or get a cool flashy attack using food. Both seem to be opposite extremes, akin to Wigfrid with alignment songs, and Willow blasting big big alignment flames. Not sure how to balance out his passive nature of dedicating his time to the kitchen, and some extra oomph to his strength in rift content (for Planar Damage). Spices seem logical, but I just feel like he could get something more than that... i dont know what :C The current alignment skills i've given Warly are currently sort of "sets" of crafts, in-game though i'd assume they would have more condensed nature. A4FE
I thought the methods to combat spoilage were really cool! Something that let's him hold onto spiced food for longer, and wait out his passive for getting the most out of stat refilling food. Truly the most evil Warly could become is eating the same foods and adding in preservatives... How about instead of a crafted recipe (honestly the bottle is killer), he's able to just throw nightmare fuel right into the food in his inventory? Maybe it adds to the freshness, but lowers the healing done, even into the negatives. There's bound to be some negatives to eating some two year old, 98% artificial meatballs... While I'm not sure if the skills offered by shadow and lunar allegiance have to necessarily contrast each other, or even be different takes on the same thing, so what about instead of making a lunar parody of preservation, how about cooking on the fly with rapidly mutating ingredients? Now this one's a far shoot, and I REALLY don't recommend you pay it much mind, but maybe his lunar allegiance can give him access to a quickly rotating ingredient? Once in the crockpot, it rotates between different kinds of filler every second, meat, veggie, ice etc, and timing cooking the crockpot lets you use it as a "catch all" ingredient? Maybe instead you set the ingredient that it substitutes as and it isn't consumed when cooking, but it makes the food it produces far more "hollow"? Nobody bat an eye when Warly start cooking with just enlightened shards, what Wagstaff TRULEY wanted from them... Apologizes if this comes off as outlandish, certainly in comparison to someone like Wigfrid, but I feel that Warly is a character with little enough noticeably going on at a surface level, so I would totally encourage some more explosive "Willow-esque" capstones for Warly. That's a good point, Warly's all about cooking fresh new things everyday, and I am just forcing him to put stale old moldy meatballs on life support lol. I'll tone down the preservatives and change them up a bit, thank you. They should boost dishes life a little only, but that's it, no frozen 10 year old vegetables buried somewhere in cryogenic camera :b I personally think reducing crockpot dishes stats for that is a little harsh, but I get where you're coming from. 19 hours ago, A4FE said: While I'm not sure if the skills offered by shadow and lunar allegiance have to necessarily contrast each other, or even be different takes on the same thing, so what about instead of making a lunar parody of preservation, how about cooking on the fly with rapidly mutating ingredients? That sounds like a fun minigame to play with, this reminds me of Tainted Isaac from tboi. I do fancy the idea of having a one-for-all ingredient, there could even be an option for Warly to have full freedom over which crockpot dish to click on for cooking like that. I'm just slightly unsure about this because I personally feel Warly should always keep putting effort into obtaining different ingredients from different places, but on other hand this sounds like a very nice luxury during end-game. 19 hours ago, A4FE said: Apologizes if this comes off as outlandish, certainly in comparison to someone like Wigfrid, but I feel that Warly is a character with little enough noticeably going on at a surface level, so I would totally encourage some more explosive "Willow-esque" capstones for Warly. ReForged mod allows Warly to throw spices, which boost survivors stats, or his healing spice can also put enemies to sleep. I really like what the devs went for, perhaps Warly could use something similar to that, but with different effects? I'm just not sure which ones exactly to go for, or should they just simply revolve around Planar mechanics. (since seasonings already exist to fulfill stat buffing role specifically) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160185-raaaaw-warly-skills/#findComment-1753393 Share on other sites
