The problem with constant switching like you do is the immense amount of "forcing" you do to make this work, when in reality, setting yourself up in 3 days to not have to do anything for the next 60+ ones is IN MY OPINION a gazillion times better than micro managing every season of my gameplay or every moment I need to do something in the caves or fight a boss etc.. The reality is that the system of circuit swapping is Not worth the cost of the circuits. Not worth the energy loss. Not worth the stats you lose/gain or perks you lose/gain for overall situations. If you CBA and want to keep micro managing a failed system go ahead, but I think is very little convincing to try to "fix" the wx meta idea while forcing the intended gameplay when this gameplay itself is flawed. I am not saying your opinion is bad, but I tried micro managing it and perfecting it but it's simply a waste of time and not fun enough. When you play a lot of wx you'll slowly slowly unfornutalely get to a place where you'll be only using one or two circuits the whole game, and maybe change it once in a in-game year. But this is talking about 90% of circuits. Sure if you prefer the temperature ones instead of the night vision only in winter and summer I can agree with that. But don't come up saying that a small sanity and hunger ones and another speed could be better than true vision in the first autumn. It's almost a fact that not bothering about darkness will be better. I got some arguments too. +25% is good but +40% is pushing. Doing a quick ruins rush as wx-78 is 100x more character efficient than exploring early autumn with 40% speed. Pushing that circuit makes no sense when having a cane will give you 45% in winter, so autumn is better for ruins to get the gear for dfly, klaus, shadow pieces etc.. wx excels at going unnoticed and looting everything, then bringing it back with winter wraps. Also, as you mentioned it, it's not a consistent strategy, you're basically gambling to get a rook in the surface instead of scanning the guaranteed ones downstairs. Even for casual gameplay, I still disagree with the double speed or even considering having any stat ones in the early game. You can basically set yourself very nicely in the surface and very quickly by day 7 to 10 and then go archives for living logs + thulecite clearing to then getting to the ruins for a quick clear before day 21. And all of that would be 10 times harder without the optoeletronic circuit. Even if you don't wanna rush the ruins early and lose character potential, you still will be far better not having to care about torches, lanterns or miner hats. Say you plan on clearing spiders and amassing resources in the first autumn and only in summer you plan on clearing the ruins, still fire is way less reliable than whatever you would put there by luckily finding a rook. I would 100% go optoeletronic. And even if you don't want to use the optoeletronic still, because you'll only have 80% armour, having 2 No.2 HP circuits will always be better than another speed (stating here again that it is not guaranteed if you don't rush the ruins). In every scenario, Micro Managing doesn't work, it's not worth it and it is slighly unreliable. Swiyss
This tier list looks more realistic. Speed is the best stat in the game for combat, exploring and planning ahead, which accounts for 75% of DST's entire gameplay. Night vision and temperature lock are in for the best things they added to the game after speed. Not having to care about something so time consuming really does make a difference in the way you play the game. This A and S sections definitely feel closer to a creative game mode than what any other circuit perks or stats can offer. Eletric circuit is only here because of the damage dealt to wet mobs. Having a Speed + 2 Eletric circuits will make each wet attacker take 100 damage per hit, which is awesome for tanking targets. It is not an A tier circuit only because of the cost and having to constantly swap it back to temperature or night vision. Although it is a very sweet choice for a boss rampage. Health and Hunger stats -as I stated before- are only great after having access to other things in the game. These stats are higher than the others in ranking simply by priority and numbers. These 2 circuits will both enhance your gameplay, but are not as impactfull as the ones above. Lower stat Health and Hunger circuits are only in C tier because they can be used alongside a Speed + Temperature circuits. Otherwise they would be at E tier, say they costed 2 slots and the enhanced versions 3 slots for example, even F tier. But because they're so cheap, they deserve a higher ranking. Bean Booster is here simply by the fact that it gives you 100 sanity. Having a bean booster + a lower stat HP for example would be good, but darkness or temperature managing are -In my opinion- way way higher priorities than free healing and 100 sanity simply because jellybeans exist. If this circuit gave +75 hp and +50 sanity or +100 hp and +50 sanity it would be an A+. It is worse than a regular stat circuit because of the 3 slots it takes. An optimal bean booster build would look like Speed + Bean Booster + Small HP, leaving you at 175 hp, 250 sanity and 125 hunger. This is obviously a great choice for someone who's gonna take a lot of damage and heal later, but then the eletric circuits + jellybeans are way better if you're tanking anyways. This is not a bad circuit, It's just that the slot amount alongside the useless 100 sanity that it gives and the existence of other circuits makes for a very bad item that I would love to love, but I hate to hate. Sanity Stats are only here because all they do on their own is reduce the time it would take for you to manage your sanity, which is something everyone already does by either picking flowers or kiting nightmares, giving these circuits passive sanity boosts or sanity per hit/getting hit would make them 10x better. If a No.1 and No.2 Sanity circuits gave +25 sanity and +5 sanity/min and +50 sanity and +7.5 sanity/min consecutively, it would make for an absolute banger of a circuit, I would even rank it higher than the Health and Hunger stat ones. Probably an A tier. I would swap the Optoeletronic for 2 of these No.2's at any day. +25 sanity/min with the crown would be the real creative mode crownDMG gestalt build. Chorus box has only 1 impactful use, and it is to tend to nearby plants, which a one-man-band can already do without the cost of your circuit slots. If this circuit had 1 slot I would consider it. The F tier category are for the worst circuits. I never see myself using an entire row of slots for speed simply because I don't wanna lose the other ones, I don't even equip this on day one since I can easily get an Optoeletronic before day 3. The Illumination circuit does what a lantern does better, but it's worse than an optoeletronic in every way. Simply comparing these 2 with the rest, there are no competition, I prefer having a small sanity here and there for a crownDMG gestalt build than using these.
