Cakepants Posted October 10, 2024 Share Posted October 10, 2024 I've been loving the Depths of Duplicity update, from the bridges, to the Gloomerangs, though I've been having an unfortunate time with the new Icker enemies whilst playing with my friends. I'd like whoever is reading to read these next few sentences out loud. "Oh man a bunch of ickers just jumped me" "Yeah these ickers just killed me and took all my stuff awesome" "There's some ickers right outside our base, can you help me kill them?" "These ickers are so dark I can't even see them" "I hate ickers so much" "Our base was a lot nicer before these ickers dropped in right next to us" I don't know what I'd change the name to, but my family hearing me shout "Dammit, I hate ickers!" when I get killed is giving them the wrong impression. I'm not making this post to try and make some kind of edgy humor or joke, I really actually think the name of these enemies should be changed, because its audible similarity to another word makes me uncomfortable talking about them or referring to them period. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but stays with it being a modification of "ichor" (I think). I played in a server with several other people for a while, we did all the shadow rift content, endured Icker ambushes many times, and nobody ever had this thought. It barely sounds like what you're insinuating, in my opinion. It sounds less like a slur . You are right though, I was very suprised when I looked it up. Well unless the devs decide to change it (which i think is unlikely) you might wanna start making habit of calling them blobs. Terraria has had an enemy called an "Ichor Sticker" for a long time, so it's not like the word's pronunciation is being twisted for this enemy, it's just an alternate (albeit more modern) way of saying it. Personally I've always said "eye-ker". :P Also... So what if your family mishears you saying it? If they confront you on it or something, can't you just show/tell them it's a Don't Starve enemy? It's not like you're actually saying anything bad. After all it would "only" make a change to their in-game name, not to their prefab (as far as I know.)
