Does the Espresso Machine not have a temperature exchange tile?

Recommended Posts

My current base is frozen themed and I keep the entire base at a cool -35c but I noticed the water inside my espresso machine would quickly freeze and entomb it in a tile of ice. My soda fountain had the same issue but just putting a ceramic insulated tile under its interaction point solved that issue. I tried every tile under the espresso machine including all of them but nothing worked.

My solution ended up being running a conduction panel behind it running 900 grams of 91c water and than running my cooling loop in a counter flow direction behind the floor under it, which balances out the machines temp at about 35c but keeps the room freezing. Now I know creating a complicated solution to a simple problem is the "oni way" but there are times when the "tile it and forget about it" solution is my preferred way.

I think the tile you are looking for is the tile that gets entombed when the water inside the machine freezes.

That being said, I don't expect a good old run of the mill expresso machine to be frost proof. Heating it and keeping the area around cool "the oni way", in this situation, is the way IMO. Otherwise, you may build a tiny alps styled chalet for your dupes living quarters, or something cosy like an antarctic research station as we see one at the beginning of "the thing". That wouldn't be out of place in an otherwise very cold environment.
