Where is the new character skill tree

Recommended Posts

Windy, Walter, and Wally, these people all need a wave of skill trees. Where is their skill tree strengthened? Can you please not be so perfunctory with this update? There are too few updates this time. There is no skill tree, just like it is now

This is not the [character] skill tree update, Klei said this is gonna be a caves update. Although looking at it right now, I'd rather wait for another few more months if this is the only few things they can muster after those 3 months.

I thought they were doing away with that. They said they were planning on doing a mix for future updates on their roadmap. After that we had 2 reworks, and 2 new. If this one skips, that's not too many skill trees this year. That's a long wait if you've been hyped since Wilson. Makes it pretty easy to get disappointed when none of your mains get picked.

admittedly, I am sad that there isn't a skill tree in this update, new content is great, but for a character to have their gameplay improved in a meaningful way feels like there is far more to play with and enjoy. Don't get me wrong there is a lot... well okay Im not too interested in a fair bit as I don't feel it changes enough but I am glad that klei is giving the caves attention. To be entirely fair, the characters who will receive trees soon, could be challenging to make great skill trees for, they could end up being controversial. I mean, you look at me and tell me that wickerbottom or maxwell will not be absolutely insane when they get their respective trees. That said, I will be happy with waiting a bit longer for a new set of skill trees, perhaps with it being a longer period we could get 3 skill trees this time instead of 2.

Honestly I really have to hope because if I don't, I'll just be sad. Gotta look forward to something I suppose. yeah this update is a disappointment, it happens, but i just have to believe that something better is coming.

We're past the point of characters being insane, willow is insanely good, wurt is insanely good, wigfrid is insanely good, Winona is insanely good, wormwood is insanely good. Haven't played the other skill tree characters besides these but in the right hands all these new skill tree characters are super OP beyond any previous standards. Maxwell deserves to be insanely good too. So does Wendy. So does Wanda, and Wortox, Walter, Webber, etc. This is the new power standard.

I'd argue he's still on par with post skill tree characters.

Skill trees aren't just about haha damage number go brrrr it fleshes out the rest of their kit and adds new interesting gameplay and crafts but if you only speak minmaxed dps numbers then sure buddy

Maxwell's kit post refresh was never just damage if it were noone would have batted an eye pal it's everything else around it that makes him feel like a post skill tree character.

Alright buddy so beyond the shadow fighter rework which no one has a problem with according to you

He gets a shadow hat for extra inventory space, the panic spell that transforms to beard versions, and the trap spell to immobilize enemies for a short time.. such OP wow I understand now

He's not as fun to play as the reworked characters. Klei is aiming for fun. Maxwell needs more fun. That's why he deserves a good skill tree. Majority of the players aren't out here trying to min max their characters so they can eek out a boss kill a few seconds faster than another character. I hate gaming forums. Turning this garbage off for a while, so I think in internet terms that means you won. GG

Extra shadow storage via hat

Panic spell that changes some mobs to other variants

Cage that binds all enemies in range even bosses

No sanity loss from shadow set

Can read all of Wickerbottom's books

Can craft a special magician's chest that connects to all versions of itself on the shard as well as his hat.

Explain to me how this doesn't sound like a post skill tree character? Heck Willow even copied his skill wheel for her skill tree

Also just because he's not fun to play for you doesn't mean he isn't fun heck I'd say he's far more fun to play than Wolfgang should he get another skill tree? I play Maxwell but I don't play Wolfgang because I find his skillset boring.

Would you like to voice your complaints with the shadow fighters by the way? I've never heard anyone say were too op at most it was that his spells are too cheap for what they do and how early he has access to them but I'm all ears if you want to explain.

Actually to give you a better example Maxwell's post refresh skills would be the equivalent of if Willow's ember spells were base kit pre skill tree.

Honestly I think Klei is doing an awesome job with these past updates, but I would have 100% prefered if they went for making all skill trees in a row, like just pure skill tree updates over the year. The characters with skill trees are gaining some insane power-ups, while the rest are getting left behind with kits getting old because of the rifts, planar, and the fact that the updated characters are casting a huge shadow on the rest.

Right now, out of the 18 characters, only 8 or 9 are shining, the ones with skill trees. The rest are just left to wait till they get their part someday(and considering these "mixes", the last skill tree update could happen in like, early 2026). Im seeing "outdated" characters like Wendy, Wanda and Webber players, having a huge hard time right now because their kits are trash the moment you activate rifts.

And man, I love Walter as a character, and considering how unfairly he got treated by Klei even BEFORE rifts became a thing, I was hoping that he would be one of the first in line for the skill tree updates. But at this point only the Joker would be crazy enough to play as him, and seeing how slow the skill trees are coming out I am in this weird position now where I have to consider that at worst my favorite character will hopefully finally become playable at like...early 2026? Come on...
